Chapter 879 - Postmaster Malone
The third item was a Silver equipment with decent Attributes, but no one was interested in level 50 Silver equipment anymore. This was an equip that was destined to lay at rest in the guild storage.
The fourth item was a rare material – Essence of Undeath. This was quite a common item, but it had always been expensive as it had many uses.
There was nothing else besides these.
Lonesome Flower had received something worthwhile, so he handed Remnant Dream some money as a reward. This had her eyes glistening and motivated her to keep going, but everyone was already tired so they all rested first.
After the break, Lu Li gave up trying to enter the door.
There were two remaining Bosses – both of them were level 50 and they were even stronger than Magistrate Barthilas.
“We’re stopping? It’s still early.”
While everyone was relieved, they were also slightly disappointed. They were all anxious for the reward from the First Clear – what if someone took it before them?
“We’re not stopping; we’re just not going further. There’s a detour – we’ll go kill the smaller bosses there and complete our quests,” Lu Li said.
To the left of the door was the route that Lu Li had come from. They had already killed four bosses along the way. To the right of the door, there was another path that awaited them.
What Lu Li referred to was the route on the right of the door. For those who wanted to just complete the dungeon, it was okay to ignore the side bosses, but for those who aimed to complete dungeon quests, they were a requirement.
Lu Li had originally planned to take all the First Clears and complete the quests later, but it seemed like he had underestimated the Bosses of this dungeon. It was impossible for them to take anymore First Clears today.
However, he wasn’t too concerned as the other guilds would likely run into the same problem.
There were all sorts of monsters along this path, including Demonesses, Gargoyles, Spiders, Shadows, Monks and Grudges. Fortunately, they were quite different to the Undead that they had previously faced. While they were all packed closely, their aggression was separate from each other. As such, the main tank could drag them apart and to be killed individually.
After the torture of dealing with Magistrate Barthilas, Azure Sea Breeze had already lost the passion that he had when he first entered the dungeon. At this point, he no longer minded leisurely progressing through.
March Rain had a variety of crowd-control skills, so whenever the situation got out of hand, she would help out.
It was Hachi Chan who instead became the main healer here. She was now capable of healing the whole team, especially when they were just clearing out monsters.
“Breezy, go open the mailbox and bring out the postmen,” Lu Li instructed.
Azure Sea Breeze pursed his lips as walked up to the mailbox and broke it open. The postmen came out to attack him, but they couldn’t harm him as he had already activated his damage reduction.
Lu Li didn’t approve.
“Don’t waste your damage reduction.”
There were still no rewards from the second mailbox – just some advertisements. These items had nothing to do with their quest, but to compensate them, the experience that the postmen gave was quite decent. This was as good as any training spot in the Wild.
After they opened the third mailbox, Lu Li began to pay attention – they had run into Postmaster Malone.
Malone was a name with a hidden story behind it.
In the past, when Basketball was still popular, many of the players were well known celebrities.
Although each player had their own horrible stories to tell, they were nothing compared to Stockton, Miller, Bowen, Oakley, Laimbeer and Malone.
The six of them combined were known as the ‘bad boys’ of the NBA.
Stockton was agile and nimble, deconstructing his opponents with an arsenal of moves and passes.
Reggie (Reginald) Miller was famous for his mouth that constantly spewed trash talk.
Bowen was a dirty player that always charged right at his opponents, often seriously injuring them.
Oakley was famous for his style and was also known to be violent on the court. Oakley was part of the crew not only because he was vicious, but also because he was cunning.
When Laimbeer stood under the hoop, none of the guards dared to challenge him – no one wanted to risk their career for it.
Karl Malone was an old player for Utah Jazz, and he was also the one that the game was parodying. Regardless of who it was that ran into Malone’s elbow, the one that got hurt would never be Malone himself.
If a mini car ran into an eighteen-wheel truck, what would the result be? Unfortunately, Malone was that eighteen-wheel truck.
On the 7th of April, 1998, he broke one of Donyell Marshall’s ribs with his knees. Marshall was out of the competition for the rest of the season.
On the 22nd of November, 1998, the Utah Jazz were up against the Spurs (San Antonio Spurs). Malone elbowed David Robinson, who unfortunately passed out and was sent to the hospital. Malone received a serious warning from the NBA.
During 1998-1999, the Utah Jazz were playing against the Houston Rockets. Malone’s infamous elbow took down Charles Barkley, who was confirmed with a muscle tear.
On the 8th of December, 2003, the Lakers were matched up against the Dallas Mavericks. Malone’s elbow smashed Nash’s face, breaking his nose. Malone was also ejected from a match as a result.
On the 27th April, 2004, the Lakers played against the Houston Rockets. Malone once again struck another player, Yao Ming, with his elbows, sending him to the floor in pain.
Postmaster Malone, the side boss from Stratholme, was a mirror version of this Malone from real life. After three mailboxes were opened, he would appear. He was a strong character with powerful curses, and would often cast Fears.
The curse that Malone casted would reduce a player’s accuracy by 45%, while the curse from his subordinates lasted for 60 seconds and dealt 600 points of damage. All Attributes would also be reduced by 20%, and the effects could stack. Lonesome Flower was capable of dispelling curses, but he was the only Mage and this would be a very tiresome task for him.
However, compared to Magistrate Barthilas, he was simply no match.
It only took Lu Li and the others twelve minutes to take down this sports legend.
Although this was just a side boss, this didn’t limit his drops. Postmaster Malone was even more popular than the magistrate because he was the only boss who dropped Magister’s Boots, which were part of the Magister’s Regalia set for Mages.
