Chapter 1302 - Protective Spirit
As Jiang Chen and Yiya walked out of the room, they came across a group of people who were running toward them. Yun Tiange was among them, and he was flustered and alarmed like the other people. It was as if there was some terrifying being behind him that was closing in on him. When they saw Jiang Chen and Yiya, they were startled for a moment, before a fierce look appeared in their eyes. They all ran past them at their highest speed without saying anything.
“Awful!” Yiya was aware that they wanted her and Jiang Chen, who were behind them, to suffer harm instead of them. But when she was about to move, she discovered that Jiang Chen stood motionless while facing the dark road. A stifling aura was quickly approaching them, and this was obviously an aura that didn’t belong to a human.
When Yiya faced such an aura, she felt her soul shivering with fear.
Yun Tiange and his companions assumed that they didn’t understand what was happening. “Just wait there until you die in the devilish dog’s mouth!” Yun Tiange didn’t like Jiang Chen, and that was why he rejoiced in his misfortune.
“Jiang Chen?” Yiya bore her impulse to run away, as she wanted to understand what was going on with Jiang Chen.
“Don’t worry!” Jiang Chen looked at the dark region. He found such a destructive aura quite familiar, and he surely wouldn’t mistake it for something else. Yiya trusted Jiang Chen too much, and, if this wasn’t the case, and someone else was in her stead, she would have run away long ago. While they were speaking, that aura already got too close to them, and Yiya felt like she was eyed by something, while goosebumps rose all over her body. There was a pair of blood-red eyes among the darkness that started shining gradually. Moreover, when they got close to each other, it became possible for them to see a face’s outline.
“A dog?” Yiya was surprised by this, as this wasn’t what she had imagined.
All of a sudden, an infuriated and threatening dog’s bark echoed.
Yiya felt then like her soul had suffered heavy damages, while her scalp became numb. She felt like this dog didn’t belong to the Human World, and it was like a dog that came out of the Netherworld.
“Don’t be afraid,” Jiang Chen comforted her, before he started walking toward the dog of his own accord.
“Jiang…Jiang Chen.” Yiya couldn’t even speak properly, and she really wondered where did Jiang Chen get such great courage. She could see that the dog was ready to pounce at its target. It had built up its whole body’s power, while its black fur seemed like a cluster of steel needles. What Yiya cared the most about was this dog’s size, as its body nearly occupied the whole passage.
“Xiao Ying,” Jiang Chen shouted.
Yiya was confused by this, and she wondered who he was calling. But just after this, she got to see that the dog went through a marvelous transformation. Its fur started becoming smooth and supple, while its size shrank down, and its eyes’ blood-red luster disappeared. In the end, the dog became as small as a kitten, and it strode forward vigorously. It started circling around Jiang Chen. At first, the puppy was confused and vigilant, but after it sniffed Jiang Chen’s body, it was surprised and delighted, and it stuck out its tongue.
“It’s so cute.” Upon witnessing this, Yiya felt like her heart would be melted by it, and she squatted down to hold the puppy.
“Don’t…” Jiang Chen tried to stop her quickly. But it was already too late.
When Yiya’s hand fell on the puppy, she didn’t get to touch anything, and a loud rumbling sound echoed, as if she had touched a barrel of explosives, while the puppy disappeared. Yiya was startled and became anxious. She assumed that she had harmed the puppy. But when she noticed the helpless and bitter smile worn by Jiang Chen, she realized that this matter wasn’t so terrible.
Sure enough! Yiya quickly got to see the puppy once again. But this time, it didn’t have a corporal body. Its body resembled a spirit body. The puppy’s body seemed transparent, and it shone with a dazzling light. It was completely formed out of energy. But it was sentient, and its eyes looked reproachfully at Yiya.
“Xiao Ying, don’t get angry.” Jiang Chen knew which look the puppy would wear when it got angry. When the puppy heard Jiang Chen’s call, it shouted and flew in the air, as it circled around Jiang Chen. In the end, the puppy rammed into Jiang Chen’s chest and turned into countless specks of starlight. But the starlight quickly condensed once again into the puppy in front of Yiya’s surprised gaze.
“What kind of creature is this?” Yiya couldn’t help raising such a question.
“It’s a Lightning Spirit born among divine lightning, and it’s this land’s protective spirit,” Jiang Chen said.
“You know it, are you acquainted with it?” Yiya raised a question about the matter she wanted to know the most.
Jiang Chen shrugged his shoulders and didn’t reply. It was he who had that taught Xiao Ying how to form such a scary appearance, and as a matter of fact, when it took an infernal devilish god’s appearance, it didn’t possess any destructive power.
This is surely the place where Xiao Nuo spent the rest of her life, and her body is surely here. Jiang Chen thought inwardly, before he questioned Xiao Ying. After he got a positive reply, Jiang Chen asked Xiao Ying to show him the way.
Xiao Ying obviously wouldn’t reject his request, and it was cheerful because it got to reunite with Jiang Chen. It was bouncing and vivacious, while it disregarded all physical rules, and it could walk even on walls. All of a sudden, Xiao Ying rammed into Jiang Chen once again and turned into light specks.
“Xiao Ying,” Jiang Chen spoke gravely and asked it to stop playing around. But Jiang Chen quickly discovered that Xiao Ying didn’t just want to play—he seemed unable to restrain his emotions. Jiang Chen recalled something, and he held a lump of Du Tian Divine Lightning in his right hand. Xiao Ying got excited, and it charged into the divine lightning.
When Yiya got worried about it, she discovered that the divine light that possessed great might couldn’t harm this little puppy. Xiao Ying was wearing a joyful look, as if it was bathing in a hot spring. It was a human-like expression that showed that it enjoyed this matter. Jiang Chen pondered over this for a moment, before he got to understand everything. All sorts of energy existed in the world, and the most commonly seen ones were water and fire. When some strict requirements were met, a sentient creature could be born among those energies. They were Water Spirits, Fire Spirits, or even a Sword Spirits. Those creatures were like a piece of beautiful flawless jade, and they were formed wholly from pure energy. They were all priceless treasures to most people, and since Xiao Ying was a Lightning Spirit, it could easily control divine lightning. While one was protected by it, he could venture into any dangerous land.
In the past, Xiao Ying followed Xiao Nuo around, and this was the reason why it got acquainted with Jiang Chen. Jiang Chen still remembered that Xiao Nuo had said that it was a pity that she wasn’t a lightning method’s inheritor, and, that if she had been one, she would have been able to fuse with Xiao Ying. Like how a sword would transform after getting a Sword Spirit, a lightning method’s inheritor that got a Lightning Spirit could reach unimaginable new heights. Jiang Chen was one of the most outstanding lightning method’s inheritors in the world, and it could be said that he was almost a perfect inheritor for it. This was why Xiao Ying couldn’t contain itself, as Jiang Chen’s Du Tian Divine Lightning possessed an intense allure for Xiao Ying.
“So, let’s fuse together,” Jiang Chen said.
Xiao Ying belonged to Xiao Nuo. After Jiang Chen got over his rancor, he didn’t regard Xiao Nuo as an outsider any longer. Xiao Ying didn’t have any objections to this and loosened its guard and stayed on Jiang Chen’s palm. After a short while, it seemed like Xiao Ying was absorbed into Jiang Chen’s body and disappeared thoroughly. While Yiya was still confused, Xiao Ying jumped out of Jiang Chen’s forehead and seemed slightly different than before. Moreover, this was also the case for Jiang Chen. But Yiya couldn’t describe what was different about them.
The greatest change was in Jiang Chen’s perception. Hearing about Lightning Spirit’s benefits countless times wouldn’t be as practical as getting to experience them personally. Jiang Chen assumed previously that his lightning method was pretty good. But after he fused with Xiao Ying, he discovered that he had made a total mess of them in many aspects. All of a sudden, Jiang Chen took out the Immeasurable Ruler and pondered something. The golden spear appeared once again, and this time its changes scared Yiya.
