Chapter 204 - I Could Bring You With Me
He wasn’t crossing any lines and looked truly apologetic. Lin Nuan decided to put aside her unhappiness and said grudgingly, “It’s alright.”
She was about to walk away when Wang Quan blocked off her path again. She eyed him warily even though it wasn’t possible for him to be up to no good. It was, after all, the broadcast building, and there was security personnel standing by the side.
“I heard about what happened to your family. I was having breakfast at home this morning when my mother mentioned what happened to your father. I casually asked for details and to put it simply, your second uncle happened to pick the wrong team to be on, and now someone wants to teach your family a lesson.”
Lin Nuan’s expression turned grave upon hearing Wang Quan mention Lin Jingquan. She recalled someone at the dinner party saying that Wang Quan’s mother was the Deputy Director of the Audit Office.
“There’s a way to help your father, but my mother didn’t tell me the details,” Wang Quan said, “I know you must be worried about him. Since we brought it up this morning, I did ask my mother if she could help. She said that she will be attending a banquet tonight. If you can make yourself available, she will be able to meet you to discuss the options to help your father. I could bring you with me, as my way of apologizing for yesterday.”
Lin Nuan wanted to decline the offer. Even though Wang Quan was acting like a gentleman, Lin Nuan couldn’t get the previous incident out of her mind.
Sensing Lin Nuan’s hesitation, Wang Quan clipped on his work pass, smirked and said, “Take some time to think about it. If you are willing, wait for me after your program ends, I will look for you and bring you along. If you don’t trust me, just forget I ever mentioned this.”
Wang Quan adjusted the collar on his suit and said, “I will make my way up first…”
Lin Nuan stood rooted to the spot, her hands gripping her backpack, her mind whirling.
…
Many fans attended the live studio interview of Su Manman. They were holding placards and banners in support of her. When the studio lights dimmed, they lit up the place beautifully.
The program had yet to begin, but everyone was already rhythmically chanting Su Manman’s name.
Su Manman wore a short red cheongsam with gold embroidery. It was buttoned from the bottom all the way up to her throat where the collar was stiff. Her fair arms and long limbs were laid bare. She was wearing diamond studded gold ankle strap heels, and her legs crossed in a leisurely manner.
Her long curls were hanging loosely, and she sat on the sofa, twirling her hair with one hand and holding her phone with the other. She was looking at her phone, and the makeup artist was freshening her makeup.
Her fans were getting more enthusiastic by the minute, to the point where even the crew had to raise their voices to communicate with each other. Su Manman finally raised her head, her big eyes looking like they could talk and smiled towards the stage. Her gaze was clear like water, and she had a sharp nose, bright red lips, and complexion as fair as snow. She looked vulnerable, her features were soft but prominent, and she was hauntingly beautiful.
As it was Su Manman’s first interview program, many of the broadcast building’s employees who weren’t working then had come to the studio to join in the fun. They commented that she certainly lived up to her reputation as “The Femme Fatale” as she was even more beautiful in person.
