The Great Thief

Chapter 1734 - Demise

“This time, I plan to take people deep into Kel’Thuzad’s Air Fortress,” Lu Li said.

“I knew you wouldn’t let me down,” said Old Fordring. He gave Lu Li high praise and felt like Lu Li was just like him – willing to make sacrifices for Azeroth’s people. The game designers seemed to have a good grasp on human nature.

There were many similar situations in real life. If you really liked someone, their bad behaviour could still be interpreted in a good way. But if you didn’t like someone, you likely wouldn’t see any goodness in their actions. When Stormwind City abandoned the Hand of Tyre, it was Lu Li who led the people to save the land against the plague.

“My brothers have gathered in the front line of battle, but I am just missing a commander,” Lu Li had planned to leave soon and was trying to get any help that he could. Otherwise, the other clubs would get the First Clear before him.

“Please wait, I have something that you might be able to use,” Old Fordring called out to Lu Li and began to dig around for something, “In the recent battles, we have managed to get quite a few good items. These items should all be put to good use for the glory of Lordaeron.”

Ah, this was the Old Fordring they were looking for. It was no wonder that he and Lu Li were such good friends. It was some worn out Magic Robes! These clothes were very worn out and dirty. If you sat down and put it in front of you at Stormwind City, someone would only give you some copper coins.

“This is the treasure of the Chief Administrator Mage Bradley,” Old Fordring quickly explained, “Although it has been damaged, the runes have not been destroyed. I believe you will not be disappointed if you read its attributes.”

Bradley’s Robe, a Legendary equipment!

Lu Li was never going to be disappointed. No matter how damaged it was, as long as it was a Legendary item, it would still be a cut above an Epic item. The only pity was that the robe was indeed damaged. Currently, there were only two Special Effects left. One of them was Rapid Nine Star, which allowed the caster to unleash nine big successive fireballs. But if the target was hit successively, each fireball had its damage increased by 50%

Lu Li quickly did some mental arithmetic but wasn’t able to work out how much damage all nine fireballs would deal. This one of a kind Rapid Nine Star was enough to qualify Bradley’s Robe as a Legendary item because of its ability to one-shot. Lu Li was sure that even he wouldn’t be able to tank all nine fireballs.

Lu Li had only seen one other one-shot item before, and that was the Greatsword of the Brotherhood.

The other special effect was Fiery Rebirth. This resurrected the player after death and would deal Inferno Impact damage to targets within eight yards of the target. They would also receive 50% regeneration of HP and mana.

The second special effect was also very powerful. The only drawback was the long coOldown time of three hours. Another issue with it was that it only had 45 Durability, whereas most level 60 Legendary equipment had at least 350 Durability. This meant that the item had to be repaired more frequently.

This equipment was definitely something for Fat Monkey. Yet, Lu Li felt envious about giving up the item, so he decided to charge Fat Monkey a large sum of money, take a chunk of his DKP and may even force him to call Lu Li his father. There were a few more pieces of equipment given after that, but none were as exquisite as that robe.

“I also have this equipment, which we got after paying a heavy price. I think you might like it,” Old Fordring took out another item which was actually good. From the appearance, you could see that it was a very sharp dagger.

Kryss of the Fallen King! It was a Legendary dagger!

This Legendary dagger was colloquially referred to as Demise. Lu Li’s hands shook as he took the weapon. He had heard of the name of this dagger but had never seen it before. It was said that this was the ultimate Thief weapon that could by dropped in Naxx. It was the best Thief weapon a few generations ago. It was better than his Felstriker and better than the Shard of the Defiler.

Although people have heard that Naxx could drop this weapon, there were few people that have actually seen it. Kryss of the Fallen King (Legendary): Damage 100-135, Agility +150, Strength +120, Critical Hit +35%, 3 Slots. Special Effect 1: Shadowstrike Skill +1, Special Effect 2: Gale Steps Skill +1, Special Effect 3: Sudden Thrust. Choose a target within 15 yards and instantly thrust towards the target to deal double damage and cause a two second stun. Special Effect 4: Part 1 – Sacrifice 30% of your HP to deal double damage to the target. Part 2 – Sacrifice 50% of your HP to deal triple damage to your target. Part 3 – Sacrifice 99% of your HP to deal quintuple damage to your target. 30 minute cooldown. There is a certain probability that your attacks will result in an instant kill effect.

Lu Li could finally change his weapons.

Shard of the Defiler (Epic): Damage 82-96. Agility +80, Strength +60, Attack Speed +45%, 2 Slots. Special Effect 1: Deep Contamination, requires activation, reduces 30% of target’s armour and movement speed, 120 second cooldown. Special Effects 2: Fatal Blow: when the target health drops below 20%, there’s a certain chance to execute the target. Special Effects 3: Echo of Archimonde: Activate to transform into a demon, allowing the user to cast demonic skills, lasts for 30 seconds, useable once per day. Level Requirement 60, Durability 240/240.

Felstriker (Perfect Epic): Damage 88-120, Agility +120, Strength +100, Critical Hit: +35%. Three Slots. Special Effect 1: Ambush Skill Level +1, +1 Combo Points gained for using this skill. Special Effect 2: After the user successful lands a critical hit, gain 50% damage increased for 10 seconds. Special Effect 3: Phantom Shift – Six Phantoms appear randomly that last three seconds each. The user can choose to change positions with one of them at any time. Two hour cooldown. Special Effect 4: Bloodthirst, Instant Cast, consumes 20% of HP to increase Attack Power by 50%, Attack Speed by 50% and Movement Speed by 50%. Lasts for 10 seconds. Two hour cooldown. After using this effect, the user is satisfied and can no longer be affected by other bloodthirst or time warp effects for ten minutes. Equipment Requirement: Level 60. Durability 320/320.

Although the Shard of the Defiler seemed to be weak, have bad attributes, and didn’t have any notable effects, the attack speed of this weapon was just too powerful. Any Thief that wanted high attack speed would never reject this weapon.

Lu Li hesitated for a long time, but finally replaced the Shard of the Defiler because Felstriker’s effects were just too powerful. It was also a Perfect Epic weapon. Even if his attack speed was now a little worse, equipping Demise and Felstriker was definitely a big upgrade.

“Is there anything else?” Lu Li curiously asked. He looked at Old Fordring with widened eyes. He really didn’t expect this Old Paladin to be so rich. Old Fordring had previously awarded an Epic equipment so reluctantly, but now he just handed over four Epic items and two Legendary items. Both of those Legendary items even have an effect which has the potential to one-shot. It was only high-end Legendary Equipment that had this ability – equipment with one-shot effects were actually quite rare in Dawn.
