Mr Fu, I Really Love You

Chapter 250 - I Don’t Trust the Rumors, I Only Trust You

Once netizens accepted it as popular opinion, Lin Nuan found herself pushed to the edge.

She put down the phone and flushed the toilet. As she looked down to rinse her hands, her mind went into a battle.

She recalled how Wen Moshen had brought a mushroom to her place before he had left and told her that he would bring a surprise back for her—one that she would love for a lifetime.

Wen Moshen was vague back then, and Lin Nuan didn’t think in that direction.

With it suddenly pointed out, she realized how his words seemed to have another meaning.

Her phone screen lit up. Somebody @ her and called her a traitor.

She dried her hands with two pieces of tissue, feeling upset inside.

After three hours of tossing and turning, she opened her Weibo once again. Countless messages @ing her kept popping up. Some were calling her a traitor while others were calling her the “other” in the relationship.

Not long afterward, Miss Xia sent a text telling her not to take it too seriously. Being gossiped about was unavoidable as she was under public scrutiny.

Lin Nuan hesitated, unsure how to reply to Miss Xia. Her phone slightly vibrated and she saw another incoming text from Fu Huai’an.

‘Have you slept?’

Without knowing why, getting a text from him during that sleepless night gave her mild solace in her heart. She felt the clouds in her head dissipate.

She rolled over and laid in the blanket, her clear face illuminated by the phone screen. She replied to his message immediately.

‘Not yet.’

Her phone rang instantly. She sat up and leaned against the bed stand as she answered the phone. Her voice was a bit raspy. “Why aren’t you asleep?”

“I remembered I didn’t say goodnight to you yet.” His deep voice comforted her immensely. “Are you feeling low because of the posts on Weibo?”

Fu Huai’an’s tone seemed quite sure of it.

Lin Nuan couldn’t deny it when he saw through her.

After falling silent for a moment, she reached out to turn on the bed lights. She spoke unhurriedly, not answering his question, “I remember the rumors back in school when I just left the Lin Family—they spread like wildfire. Some said Lin Nuan would do anything to become the head of the Lin Family, even if it meant turning against her own parents and pinning the blame on them once something happened as she played the victim. She rejected a lot of pursuers, yet she would do anything to purposely seduce them. She was merely leading them on without investing anything—she was just manipulative trash who would turn people down the minute they confessed.”

The rumors became so vicious in her school that Lin Nuan found herself isolated. She had no friends besides Song Yao and Bai Xiaonian.

When they weren’t aware of the truth, the blind would always look for the worst side in people.

“I felt misunderstood and cheated, but not upset or sad…”

She didn’t care for the opinions of people who didn’t matter to her. She didn’t live to please everybody. It was enough for the people she liked to like her back.

Lin Nuan heard Fu Huai’an light up his cigarette on the other end. He then spoke light-heartedly in his deep, calm voice, “I don’t trust the rumors. I only trust you…”

Fu Huai’an’s words made her heart beat faster, even if he was on the other end of the phone.

He made a romantic statement sound so formal and solemn—yet it also made her ears grow red.

Fu Huai’an understood what Lin Nuan was trying to say.
