Chapter 1737 - Parasite Eggs
After seeing the Boss, there were many small monsters that needed to be cleared out. Of course, these were all different types of spiders.
The individual players targeted these spiders. This was the ultimate Instance Dungeon back in the 60s, so there would at least still be some valuable recipes and materials. If equipment dropped, then it would at least be Gold grade. For ordinary players, these were rather valuable items.
Even if nothing dropped, the gold dropped from these monsters was still a good source of income. Naxxramas’ small monsters didn’t drop copper coins; they immediately dropped silver coins.
Of course, these silver coins would still be distributed out to other teammates. Even if that was so, the income from grinding these monsters was still quite decent. The biggest obstacle was not dying and not using a lot of potions.
Before the Boss, they needed to clear out around six waves of monsters. There were two patrolling groups that needed to be eliminated first. These two groups were formed of small spiders which had high offensive strength. After controlling their aggro, the Mages would need to be wary when they cast their spells. They needed to keep a cycle of constant freeze on the spiders. The rest of the Mages would cast Blizzard, and would require constant healing to avoid dying.
Wandering was in charge of pulling the aggro of the small monsters, since he had Enhanced Consecration. As soon as he used Consecration, a group of spiders would immediately swarm him. From the damage and the Taunt, they weren’t even tempted to attack other players. The aggro was safely maintained on Wandering.
There was a familiar item that these spiders dropped – the Jadeite Feather.
In the beginning of Lu Li’s gaming journey with Azure Sea Breeze, Northern Tang Dream, Northern Tang Kitty and Drinking Alone, the five of them went to take the First Clear of this Instance Dungeon.
A year had already passed since then in the blink of an eye.
The contact between Lu Li and his friends from those times were much less and frequent as before. It was the same in game and in real life. Everyone had their own lives to live, so neither parties had enough time to build their relationships further. Naturally, they grew apart.
Northern Tang Dream was still a beauty, but unfortunately, Lu Li already couldn’t quite remember what she looked like. He was actually completely incompetent at remembering faces.
One wave of small spiders dropped two Jadeite Feathers. These feathers were in quite a high demand, especially in the current market. The demand was much higher than the supply, so a single feather could sell for 7 to 8 gold, which was around 200 dollars in real life.
Furthermore, these spiders respawned quite quickly. They were able to clear everything two to three times before they respawned every hour. This was why individual players would spend money and try and hoard the maps here. Naturally, with this increase of players, the market in the next few months would be flooded with these Jadeite Feathers. From an original price of 7 to 8 gold, their value would plummet to a few silver coins.
Unfortunately, these spiders would no longer respawn in a few months’ time. When that time came, nobody would be able to earn anything from here.
There were still many groups that they needed to clear. The most common group consisted of one Giant Spider, two Red Spiders and two or three Yellow Spiders. The Giant Spiders would release toxins, so they needed to kill those first. The Red Spiders would release a curse that reduced the effects of healing, so they needed to deal with these second. Finally, the Yellow Spiders would be left to the end.
These groups of spiders posed a huge threat to normal players. They were unable to kill them without suffering casualties.
However, the drops were much better. From a single Giant Spider, Remnant Dream managed to loot a Dark Gold item with decent properties. It was a shame that no one was interested.
After clearing the monsters on the path, the door to the right path would open, which led to the Boss.
The first Boss was Anub’Rekhan.
Anub’Rekhan was the leader of the underground that was revived by the Lich. When he was alive, he was once one of the strongest Spider Lords. As of now, he served Kel’Thuzad and guarded the entrance to the Spiders’ Nest.
The deadly and sharp spikes that exploded from the ground could instantly tear players in two. Tough armor protected his innards and his gigantic body. After killing someone, Anub’Rekhan would insert parasitic eggs into the body of their corpse. These parasites would then seemingly revive the corpse and target all living things in its vicinity.
Anub’Rekhan was one of the most powerful Spider Lords in the whole of Azjol’Nerub. Many years ago, Anub’Rekhan and his king, Anub’arak, were defeated in battle by the Lich King and were recruited into the Scourge. It was said that he was the most loyal commander to Anub’arak.
With the second coming of Naxxramas, the Anub’Rekhan now was guarding the fortress with a thirst for blood and hunger for flesh. He was the first barrier of defence for Naxxramas and sought to crush any invaders.
It had to be said that Dawn was a work of art. The inclusion and implementation of these details would have been a huge project.
In terms of physical design, Anub’Rekhan did not disappoint the players. This wasn’t a normal-looking dungeon at all. It was something truly beautiful.
Azure Sea Breeze even whistled and exclaimed at how cool the spider Boss was, along with
Fat Monkey.
“Let’s go!” Lu Li called out, indicating for them to begin, then cunningly said, “It’s said that this Boss has a really interesting skill. If its spikes enter your body, it will deposit some parasitic eggs into you which will hatch within. So, Breezy, you’ll soon become a father…”
“Lu Li, you scumbag!”
Azure Sea Breeze’s excitement instantly died.
Of course, this was just Lu Li’s joke. The designers were not that disgusting. The parasitic eggs would be injected, but they would definitely not spawn more spider babies. At the most, they would only deal damage.
Azure Sea Breeze tilted his head and looked at Wandering. Wandering was just researching this point, so obviously, he wouldn’t be able to take the responsibility of pulling aggro. At that time, Azure Sea Breeze could only try his best and focus on pulling the aggro of the monsters.
“Oh! Be careful! I am coming! It has been a while since I have tasted flesh and blood.”
This was Anub’Rekhan’s script.
Azure Sea Breeze was ready, swinging his blade at Anub’Rekhan’s mouth, which looked like a pipe of some sorts. This was probably where it deposited the parasitic eggs.
