Chapter 1166 - Gu Qingcheng Cautioned
That was why… she wanted money, as well as the capability to earn money.
Seeing that the young lady had her own secrets, Lin Nuan didn’t press her for answers. She only said, “Alright then, if you run into any difficulty, be sure to tell me. You’ll indeed have access to some pretty good resources with the agency under Sister Yan’s leadership. You’ll suffer less hardship that way!”
“Okay!” Yun Liuli nodded.
“However, Liuli… I want to know, do you genuinely like it?” Lin Nuan asked.
There weren’t many people in this world who could do what they liked, because they were limited by their circumstances in life!
But Yun Liuli was different. Yun Liuli had the support of Gu Qingcheng and Lin Nuan…
Lin Nuan and Gu Qingcheng both felt that a child like Yun Liuli should do something she liked instead of being forced to do something she didn’t.
Yun Liuli gave the question serious thought before answering, “I don’t know!”
“Then… is there something you like doing? Something you’d like to continue doing forever?”
“I want to like Gu Qingcheng forever!”
Lin Nuan was rendered speechless.
“I mean your interests in life. Such as… drawing, such as… dancing. Stuff like that.”
Yun Liuli contemplated seriously, then shook her head and said, “These are too easy! I’ve tried even more stuff. Back then, Gu Qingcheng said the same thing as you, Sister Xiao Nuan. He wanted me to discover my interests and hobbies, but I didn’t find any of that challenging. However, I’ve never tried acting and singing. I’d like to give it a shot. If I get to earn money like Sister Yan said, that’d be the best!”
Fu Huai’an had told Lin Nuan that Yun Liuli had a very high IQ and that she proved to be gifted even as early as her elementary school days…
Lin Nuan felt that Yun Liuli was perhaps categorized as a genius. Although Lin Nuan was intelligent, she wasn’t a genius. Hence, she couldn’t understand Yun Liuli’s loneliness of being an ace.
Lin Nuan had seen Yun Liuli’s drawings. They were excellent!
Although Lin Nuan had never seen her dance, she heard that Yun Liuli tried going for class once… and the teacher had waved her hand at Gu Qingcheng’s assistant and returned him the fees he paid, nearly pleading with Gu Qingcheng’s assistant to take Yun Liuli back.
Lin Nuan also heard from Tang Zheng that Yun Liuli had taken part in Mathematical Olympiad competitions at a really young age. Together with another young genius, Yun Liuli nearly made her competitors pass out from anger, but she appeared oblivious to what she had done.
Yun Liuli had plenty of dark history, but… most of it had to do with having a high IQ and a low EQ.
Watching as the car entered the Fu residence, Yun Liuli thought that Gu Qingcheng was at the Fu residence right now, so she hurriedly got out of the car and asked the servant, “Where’s Gu Qingcheng?”
The servant looked lost. “Mr. Gu? Mr. Gu isn’t around!”
“Gu Qingcheng will be here later. You’re too anxious!”
Lin Nuan got out of the car and closed the car door while holding the thermos cup, unable to conceal her smile.
Yun Liuli nodded, clearly not as excited as she was earlier. “Oh…”
Her heart was indeed filled with Gu Qingcheng.
Lin Nuan entered and changed into slippers, then handed the thermos cup to a servant. When she got upstairs, she saw Yuan Yuan obediently sitting in the toddler’s play gym, appearing energetic.
Upon seeing Yuan Yuan, what little unhappiness there was in Yun Liuli’s heart disappeared as she enthusiastically took photos of Yuan Yuan with her phone.
It was only when the servant informed her that Fu Huai’an and Gu Qingcheng were back that Yun Liuli left Yuan Yuan alone and fled downstairs.
Gu Qingcheng, who entered the house with Fu Huai’an, clearly didn’t expect to see Yun Liuli at the Fu residence. He paused in surprise.
He looked as mature and steady as ever, wearing a shirt and navy knitted cardigan, his well-chiseled features appearing unbelievably masculine and handsome.
When Yun Liuli saw Gu Qingcheng, it was as if they hadn’t seen each other in years. Her eyes warmed up, and she pounced into Gu Qingcheng’s arms in an instant.
“Be careful of your arm!” Gu Qingcheng cautioned. However, Yun Liuli held him even more tightly.
Although Gu Qingcheng was a little caught off guard, he held Yun Liuli in his arms, his demeanor and voice both calm as he stroked her hair and asked softly, “Aren’t your exams starting tomorrow? Why aren’t you revising in school? Aren’t you afraid someone will oust you from your number one spot?”
Gu Qingcheng spoke calmly with his deep voice, like an elegant cello, so pleasant-sounding it made one yearn to cry.
“I missed you!” Yun Liuli said.
Fu Huai’an removed his suit jacket and handed it to a servant. He smiled and chose not to play gooseberry. After changing his shoes, he walked in, indicating for the servants to leave the room as well.
“Sir…” A servant suddenly went up and called Fu Huai’an’s name. She raised Lin Nuan’s thermos for Fu Huai’an to see. “Madam didn’t finish her longan red dates tea today!”
Fu Huai’an nodded. “Got it.”
Downstairs, Yun Liuli was leaning against Gu Qingcheng’s arms. As for Lin Nuan, she had coaxed Yuan Yuan to sleep and placed the little one into the cradle.
Hearing the door open, Lin Nuan, who was covering Yuan Yuan with a blanket, looked up. She mouthed the words “she’s asleep” to Fu Huai’an, indicating for him to be lighter in his movements.
After setting down Yuan Yuan and letting the nanny keep her company, Lin Nuan went back to their bedroom with Fu Huai’an to change his clothes.
Once inside, Fu Huai’an stood with both hands in his pockets, staring down at his little bride.
Lin Nuan felt her hair stand up a little from being stared at like that. She smiled and hugged Fu Huai’an by his narrow waist. “What’s the matter?”
Fu Huai’an wasn’t swayed by the soft and fragrant woman in his arms. With both hands in his pockets, he asked, “You didn’t finish your longan red dates tea today?”
Lin Nuan paused. “Oh, Liuli came today, so we chatted a bit, and I forgot about it. I’ll make it up at night!”
“Your blood and qi are weak, especially when you’re on your period. Don’t throw a childish tantrum just because you’re tired of it.” Fu Huai’an pinched Lin Nuan’s fair and tender little face. “You’re already the mother of two kids. You need to set a good example for Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan!”
Lin Nuan nodded. She smiled and took the casual home clothes for Fu Huai’an, telling him about Fang Yan’s plans to let Yun Liuli enter the entertainment industry today.
“With Fang Yan looking after Xiao Liuli, nothing much will happen to her after she enters the industry, but you need to see if Gu Qingcheng is willing…”
Fu Huai’an paused in his act of loosening his tie, his brows furrowing slightly.
Fu Huai’an could no longer take in what Lin Nuan was saying. He pulled off his tie and held it in his hand, then twisted around and looked at Lin Nuan. “Say… is it a good idea to let Old Gu appear in the eyes of the media and public?”
To feign his death as a means of escape would mean living in the dark from now on, never being able to live in an aboveboard manner…
Just like Chu Xun right now. She wasn’t living… she was merely alive, alive in a state of terror and uncertainty.
Such a life was Gu Qingcheng’s last option if he had no other choice.
Fu Huai’an told Gu Qingcheng he could return to Haicheng some years later after things died down, but that was but a beautiful wish. Gu Qingcheng and Fu Huai’an were both clear about this fact.
Lin Nuan understood what Fu Huai’an was saying.
“You’re thinking of giving Gu Qingcheng a brand new identity for him to appear in the public’s eye, or are you planning to let Gu Qingcheng appear in the public’s eye just like this?” Lin Nuan asked.
“New identity!” Fu Huai’an suddenly smiled. “Of course… a new identity that truly exists!”
