The Great Thief

Chapter 1021 -Selling a Guide

Lu Li didn’t have any plans to challenge the industry, and destroying the concept of celebrity players wouldn’t do him any good either. As such, Glory Capital could lose, but they couldn’t lose too badly.

If Lu Li killed the final boss while Sorrowless and the others were still stuck on Marduk the Black, then it would be a real embarrassment.

It would be a shock to the industry’s core.

Square Root 3 was a smart person; he immediately came to his senses and took action.

Money!

Of course, he would sell it anonymously. If he sold it under the name of Ruling Sword, it would look like an insult and Glory Capital would take offense from it, making life a lot harder than it already was.

After trading the information with a few players, a dorky-looking Thief appeared before Chopsticks, who was an executive of Glory Capital.

Chopsticks refused to believe it, but he wasn’t completely dumb either, so he still came to ask about the situation.

“You say you have a guide, a guide for Marduk the Black. How is this even possible?”

“My boss gave it to me. It’s up to you if you believe it!”

As Square Root 3 had instructed, the dorky-looking Thief didn’t appear too eager either, and tried his best to look arrogant. You had to look arrogant to have others believe that you had something worthwhile in your hands.

“Where’d you get the guide from. How many bosses are included?” Chopsticks asked reluctantly as he sunk back on his chair.

“You guys have done the first three, and we only have the fourth one now. There might be some for the bosses to come after, but what’s important is what Glory Capital is willing to offer. Gu Gu Mercenary Group only talks with money,” the Thief said confidently.

Chopsticks was still in his chair, but his spine straightened up to this information as he asked without changing his expression, “How much money do you guys want?”

If this Thief said that they had a guide for all the bosses in Scholomance, Chopsticks would have thrown him out immediately. This was because it would be impossible – Dawn wouldn’t give up their ambition for such a small amount of profit.

However, since the Thief only had the guide for the fourth boss, there might be some to come after.

Could this be someone from Ruling Sword selling the intel? This person also had to be someone who had entered the dungeon. Apparently, Lu Li had brought another five new players into his team for this fifteen-man dungeon.

Mu Qiu, Fat Monkey and Kitty Likes Meat were all competitors, so there was no way they would sell any information out.

However, there were still two unfamiliar faces – one was Her Tears and the other was Jaweika. As an executive of the intel department for Glory Capital, he had their information on record.

Jaweika was good with PVE, and everyone knew how useful a Dark Priest could be for a team.

However, Her Tears was questionable. Apparently, his equipment was excellent, his levels were up there as well and he had a passion for PVP. It would be hard to imagine someone like this who wouldn’t be interested in competing in a match.

If he had brought up a request and got turned down, would he have held some sort of grudge?

The Thief that had come to share information said nothing at all – the other details were filled in by Chopsticks himself. Square Root 3 had run into Chopsticks before, and had even done a dungeon run together too. He knew what Chopsticks was like.

Chopsticks was someone who thought that everyone was plotting against him, and was very imaginative.

The dorky Thief could feel his heart on the edge of exploding, but he still replied calmly, “If Glory Capital is really sincere about it, then Glory Capital should do the talking.”

“Hehe, you sure know how to bargain,” Chopsticks laughed in slight disgust.

He hated those who betrayed their own guild. Usually, he wouldn’t even waste his breath with these kinds of people.

“I just want to remind you that every single minute you waste here will be another minute of disappointment to the public. Ruling Sword is probably knocking on the front door of the fifth boss by now.”

The dorky Thief sure knew how to act; this was why he was sent over in the first place.

“…” After some silence, Chopsticks finally gave a number.

“A million!”

The Thief’s eyes glistened, but he quickly covered it up, then shook his head and said, “No, at least two million. My friend and I are risking our livelihoods for this.”

“Fine, two million then. Give us the guide, I’ll transfer you the money after it’s done,” Chopsticks agreed.

The dorky Thief’s expression changed from surprise to bitterness and regret. If he had asked for five million, perhaps Chopsticks would still have agreed.

Square Root 3 had said before that he could have 1% of the money as commission.

He didn’t doubt the credits of Glory Capital and Chopsticks, so the dorky Thief was quick to pass out the guide.

“****”

Chopsticks couldn’t imagine that the strategy would be so simple.

“Don’t let your Mages hit the shield”

It was so simple, yet Glory Capital had wiped countless times in front of millions of people.

It was so simple, yet this shameless person before him had taken his two million.

However, he was still rational and he knew what was important.

Before Sorrowless received the intel, he felt like something was blurry at the back of his mind, that something wasn’t right. However, no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn’t figure it out.

After he received the words, he felt an instant sense enlightenment.

He had thought that something was wrong with the shield – the damage of the shield just rose higher and higher in time. There was no way the game designers would design something so powerful without a weakness.

After this problem was solved, there was no way that Glory Capital would continue to stick around the same spot. They quickly killed the fourth boss, but because it wasn’t the First Clear, they only received a Dark Gold equip and two Gold equips.

Chopsticks received news from the other end too. He took a deep look at the dorky Thief, and for the first time, asked for his name.

“Oh, right, what’s your name?”

“Just call me Streaking,” the dorky Thief answered with a giggle. His real ID was Streaking Under the Moon.

“Give me your account; I’ll transfer you the money now.”

Chopsticks sent him a friend request too. Although he didn’t like this person, he knew how important they were.

From him, he could continue to receive intel about Ruling Sword. In fact, he might even be able to control Ruling Sword through this “Streaking” someday.
