Chapter 1066 - Wiping Memory
“I’m free, thank you all!” a woman cried as she ran out of the inn and into the arms of Thrall.
“Taretha, I’m glad you’re ok.”
Thrall hugged her tightly, turned his head and thanked them sincerely.
“Thank you all, strangers. You’ve given me hope. If it weren’t for you all, I couldn’t have rescued Taretha by myself.”
“Are they your friends?” Taretha asked curiously as she stood beside Thrall.
“They are now, but I had never met them before this.”
Thrall would have never imagined that a group of humans who he had never met before would rescue him from the tightly-guarded Internment Camp.
“If you give me some time, I can explain everything for you guys,” a soft voice said nearby. It was the half-Elf-half-Stag Keeper Remulos, the one who had sent out the quest.
“Sir, who are you?” The players knew exactly who he was but Thrall and Taretha was confused.
“It doesn’t matter who I am,” Remulos said, then paused and continued, “It’s not even that important whether I explain it or not . You walk on your own path and we’re merely a small wave in the vast sea of time. Lu Li, what do you think?”
“Yes, you’re right sir,” Lu Li said, faking a laugh because he didn’t want to offend Remulos.
Remulos casted a spell on Thrall and Taretha and the two fell in a deep slumber.
“This spell will delete their memory of us and what happened before. They won’t remember that we saved their lives in the past. Thrall will continue to live out his life and travel, free his fellow enslaved Orcs and finally becoming the Warchief. As for Taretha…
Unfortunately, I cannot change her fate.”
Lu Li caught a glimpse of the compassion that Remulos felt towards them but that was short-lived as he knew that this was the best thing to do.
“If you can travel through time, then why do you need us to help?” Lu Li asked. The quest wasn’t easy at all and there were many times where they could have failed.
“You’re wrong. Besides the Bronze Dragon Nozdormu, no one else can travel through time. My existence right now is merely a projection of myself,” Remulos sighed, then added, “I don’t know why the Epoch Hunter was able to travel through time. This is a serious problem that needs to be investigated, but there’s no need for you guys to be involved for now. I can send you guys back once you’re ready.”
They still needed to loot the Boss which was why Remulos was waiting for them to be ready.
Remnant Dream looted all the Bosses and they decided to split the bounty once they returned.
Remulos activated the portal and everyone that stood on top of it were sent back to Moonglade in present time. A gentle breeze swept across their faces as the trees swayed in harmony. It was almost as if everything that had happened was a dream.
They had gained a lot from this trip.
The Darkmoon Card alone would attract top players like Lu Li to risk their life without any further rewards.
Not to mention, the loot from the two Bosses had yet to be split amongst them. Lu Li knew that Remulos was a kind man and would be generous with the rewards. They had completed the quest almost perfectly and it would be difficult for the NPCs to point out any flaws or mistakes.
However, there were still some disappointments.
First of all, a majority of them had used the Darkmoon Card at least once and some had even used it twice. Secondly, because Remulos had erased Thrall’s memory, they wouldn’t be able to build a relationship with him.
Another small disappointment was that they weren’t able to change the fate of Taretha
Lu Li remembered reading Thrall’s biography, in which Taretha’s name was mentioned briefly. Even though she raised one of the Greats of Azeroth, she didn’t receive the praise and acknowledgement from the people of Azeroth that she deserved.
Although it was unfortunate that she died, she must have endured many hardships, being a human girl in the middle of the war between the Horde and the Alliance.
“You guys did very well,” the giant Forest Keeper said as he nodded his head. Then, with a wave of his hands, everyone received their reward.
Popularity!
They were rewarded with a lot of popularity as well as some gold and EXP.
A Main Story Quest like this would directly impact the game and therefore, it was expected that they were rewarded with a lot of Popularity.
Enhanced Sinister Strike used up a lot of Lu Li’s Popularity Points. Although he doesn’t have any Enhanced Skill Books right now, he doesn’t mind storing up some points for the future.
According to credible sources, Sorrowless has a team of experts who found the quests that rewarded the most Popularity Points for him to do.
The top players knew what the most important thing to focus on was.
They had also gained a considerable amount of EXP and Lu Li’s EXP bar had filled up to more than half at Lv53. Completing these quests rewarded a lot more EXP than grinding in the Wild. However, they were very rare and difficult to come across.
Remulos rewarded Lu Li a Nightslayer Chestpiece.
It was a Dark Gold equip, and although it wasn’t Legendary, Lu Li was more than happy. This would give him the third piece of equipment in his set. He quickly put it on, even though he was already wearing a Lv50 Dark Gold chest piece.
Based on everyone’s reactions, it was likely each player had received equipment that they needed.
“Are we going to split the equips? You guys won’t keep them all to yourself, right?!” Elevenless yelled in a loud voice as a joke. Everyone looked at him with an annoyed expression. If the word got out that Ruling Swords were scamming people, especially when the source of that news was a tournament player, their reputation would plummet.
“There are three rare materials. Everyone roll the first one…” Remnant Dreams was good at looting and also good at splitting the spoils of battle.
The first one was taken by Unforgettable Maple, while Remnant Dream took the second, and the third…
The third rare material, which was a Chrono Shard that had been dropped by the Epoch Hunter, made Lu Li hold his breath. This was an important rare material for his Felstriker. He had been looking around for it for a few days now and found nothing, so it was very fortunate that he randomly stumbled across it.
Lu Li prayed that someone from Ruling Sword would roll the highest number.
Water Fairy…
Why did it have to be Water Fairy? There were 7 players from Ruling Swords and she still managed to get it.
The next piece was a Dark Gold Dagger called Time-Shifted Dagger. It was a Mage weapon that nobody needed, so everyone rolled for it and Azure Sea Breeze received it.
Next was a Legendary Shoulder piece. Remnant Dream was the only Hunter, so it was given to her.
After this came a Dark Gold necklace that was collected by March Rain, who rolled the highest number.
Reaver of the Infinites – since Azure Sea Breeze was a defensive class, Elevenless was the one that took this.
Lastly, there was Enhanced Shield Wall Skill Book. Everyone’s eyes lit up when they heard the name of the skill book. Shield Wall was a staple defensive skill for tanks. The Enhanced version would allow for more survivability, enabling them to tank stronger Bosses. Stronger Bosses would drop better loot and so forth. This was the reason why defensive equips and skills books were so highly sought after.
