Rebirth of the Heavenly Empress

Chapter 59

She spoke so softly that even Qu Yan who stood nearest to her could hear nothing at all.

Even Chu Xuning who stood a little further away couldn’t hear, too.

Chu Xuning stared at the cold smirk on her lips and could not help but lean closer since he wanted to hear what she was saying.

At that moment, Yu Shijin tilted his head and said, “There are 108 mutants behind the base. Protect the doctor and leave.”

He had merely lowered his eyes and his tone of voice didn’t change one bit, though it was a little deeper and hoarser than normal. Chu Xuning had taken part in countless missions with Yu Shijin, and he was already quite familiar with Yu Shijin’s commanding style.

Every command from this person was on point.

No matter which side one person stood, no one wanted to oppose it.

However, Chu Xuning felt that Young Master Yu did not seem calm judging by how he sounded.

“Chi Yue?” Since the man beside the golden-haired one had a change of expression, it was clear that he had heard of that name before.”Are you sure?”

“Other than the one they call the genius among hackers, I cannot think of anyone else who can stop my attacks. I tried testing the waters by using information from the Rapid Fire Mercenary, and I learned that his hacking skills had dropped. Thus, I easily gained control.” The golden-haired man smoked with a cigarette and tilted his head to look at the person beside him. “If it was not because your opponent was Chi Yue, did you think I will come back to help you?”

“Whether or not he is Chi Yue, or whoever that person is, it would be difficult for them to escape from my mutant animals.” The person beside him did not seem to care at all. He merely took the transceiver and shouted, “Our target has entered the main hall. Prepare to catch them and exchange the hostages!”

Hearing that, the golden-haired man only squinted his eyes.

If it was in the past, he would definitely not suspect that they would defeat the mutants. But as he stared at that skinny figure on the screen…

And the two poker cards wedged in the tires.

He was unsure.

On the screen, the main hall had many passageways where in an instant, countless mutants rushed out. It was a chaotic situation. There were those that pounced on them and others that rushed to them as though they were playing with their prey. As he watched, the scene made his head numb.

Chi Yue had a change in expression.

The scene was like watching a zombie movie. As one stood in a spacious area, zombies rushed towards them from all directions.

Helplessness and despair overflowed the area.

Qu Yan could not help but hold Gu Li’s sleeves, while he glanced down at her and gripped some bottles with his hand. The explosives were dwindling in number even! “When an opportunity arises later, take Miss Su and leave through this passageway.”

In the entire main hall, only the passageway in the middle was not swarming with mutant animals.

Yu Xiangyang and Gu Li discreetly moved towards Su Huiqing and Qu Yan’s front.

Chu Xuning and the others leaned towards them as well. All of them had their backs against each other as they formed a circle.

In this group of people, most were not familiar with each other and had not interacted before.

But at that instant, they were all willing to let another person guard their backs.

It was a moment of life and death, but they were not scared at all. Instead, a sense of excitement gushed up to their heart. There was never a time they felt like this—a lofty sentiment of facing death.

It was the feeling every countryman had in their bones, a hot-blooded nature!

Even Dr. Luxe took off his white coat, leaving him dressed in black.

He reached out to tighten the white ribbon on this wrist before calmly looking at the mutants swarming towards him.

Su Huiqing stood in the middle of the circle. She bent down to pick up a mini robot and a timer she had left there at the start.

She then pulled a soft sigh as she looked at the two girls who the others protected within the circle.

She pushed away Yu Xiangyang who stood in front of her.

After she had walked out of their circle, she threw her school bag onto the ground and calmly talked to the transceiver. “Buy me two minutes’ worth of time.”

‘Who was she talking to?’ Chu Xuning squinted his eyes.

At the next second, he heard a familiar cold voice. “Alright.”

It was obviously Yu Shijin’s voice.

Everyone looked at Yu Shijin, who slowly walked out from behind. He had a tall posture and had cold gleaming eyes.

He stopped beside Su Huiqing and tilted his head to look at Chu Xuning and the others. With a calm voice, he said, “Leave here first.”

With that, he slowly took out his weapon.

Chu Xuning could not help but stare as he watched his movements.

He knew the reason Yu Shijin rarely took out his weapon, and it was because the weapon was not a firearm, but an ancient bow.

Its workmanship was exquisite; it was black and made from an unknown material. They even carved his name on the bow—Predator.

Yu Shijin was the only one who could use that weapon.

Once the weapon was out, blood would definitely splatter. Hence, unless necessary, he would not just take it out randomly.

Yu Shijin’s subordinate described him with a phrase, and similar to his weapon, it was a phrase used since ancient times.

Every ten steps, one man down.

Every thousand miles, all men are gone!
