C350 – Changes Under the Sea

When he dispatched the Jinjiawei, the Snowfield King had told them not to come back if they haven’t killed the intruder. However, as he was really angry then, if the intruder was not killed by the hard-trained Jinjiawei, he would not accept their return. What he did not expect, however, was that his angry remark became true.

The Jinjiawei’s solo combat effectiveness was really not great. They were good at fighting in a group, but they had only fought against people and large desert beasts, not those small ones who could be flexible and drill between their armors and clothing like bugs.

At the moment amidst an insect tide attack, the always calm Jinjiawei also panicked. Their formation could not be maintained. Their riding beasts also became manic from being bitten by the bugs. Even if they turned left to avoid the swarm, in a flash, the right side would also be blocked. They still could not get rid of those insects.

Chaos reigned in the formation of the Jinjiawei. They had all scattered. Coupled with their riding beasts rioting, the scene became even worse.

The Bi Luos, who had been hiding within the Jinjiawei’s formation, had wanted to fly in the air to avoid the disaster. However, before they had thought of lifting off, they had been pounced on by beetles with its own wings open. They were just domesticated tracking beasts, not combat-type. It would be simply too hard for them to resist when the tide of insects swept through.

The screams, the shouts of the Bi Luos, the sonorous sound of the metals clashing seemed endless. However, this battle did not last long. After a short time, some people managed to break out, but they had lost the opportunity to save the others from the tide of the encirclement. Even if the others could still hold on for a time, the pain of the bug bites meant that they would soon became food of these bugs. In a short time, they would only become skeletons.

The people who had managed to break out from the tide ignored their wounds and rushed towards Snowfield City. As long as they can reach the territory of the city, they would be much safer. However, they were out of luck. When they had just escaped from the tide of insects, they met several people who had attacked their city.

When these people met the Jinjiawei, they knew it would not be easy to fight them. But since they had encountered the Jinjiawei fleeing like a mess, the knives in their hands would be a waste if they did not take a shot.

The Snowfield King was tolerant of the time and waited for a few more days. Finally, he couldn’t ignore it and felt that the Jinjiawei were really gone.

The Jinjiawei were personally enslaved by the Snowfield King himself. If they were just ordinary ranked lower slaves, he wouldn’t care. Regardless, if those people were assassinated or had encountered an accident, he would not be interested. However, the Jinjiawei was different. Starting from his dispatch, he had been paying attention to them. Then, he had felt the connection between him and the Jinjiawei being forcibly severed by the sickle of death. Afterwards, like being smashed by a hammer, a splitting headache had suddenly punched him and he could no longer remain calm.

Surprise, panic, disbelief! The Snowfield King tried to suppress the tumbling of all kinds of emotions in his heart. He had sent a team out to find the Jinjiawei. Even if they only found the bodies, he wanted to know how those people were killed and where they died.

The people who went out followed the route the Jinjiawei used to chase Shao Xuan earlier. All the way along the path, they had not found any traces. Those who attacked the Jinjiawei had long erased their traces, not even a bone or a stone could be found. Coupled with the desert climate, wind and sand, for the Snowfield King’s men, nothing left would be found.

As they continued looking for the Jinjiawei’s team, they came upon traces that the team had encountered a swarm of insect. It was just that when they saw that, everyone felt the same feeling like being in an ice cellar.

Under the scorching sun, they only felt the chill on their backs. Their teeth were chattering hard, while they looked at the situation in front of them. They shivered, not even having the courage to go forward.

In the vast expanse of undulating yellow sand, the metal armors and some broken rags covered the skeletons, which had been half buried in the sand. The metal armors exposed outside, as well as the sharp metal weapons, glittered under the sun.

Now, let’s not talk about how the whole desert reacted to the Jinjiawei’s plight after the news spread. On the other side, under the sea, Shao Xuan had finally stopped sinking after a time.

Shao Xuan thought he was stepping on the bottom of this area, but using his special ability to view the surroundings, he realized that that was not the case. The place beneath his feet was like the top of a mountain on the bottom of the sea, going down on both sides and leading to the depths of the sea. As for what it looked like deeper, Shao Xuan has no ability and no time to look now.

It was the place beneath his feet that has a power source, pulling Shao Xuan down.

Looking around, Shao Xuan found that, although the area was not flat, it was wide.

He had been holding his breath under the sea for a long time. If this continued, he would choke to death. Therefore, Shao Xuan thought of accumulating his strength, then release it all to swim up. The sea beast above has already left. Probably because of the existence of such beast, there was no other fish activity around. There should be no other dangerous undersea creatures in this short period of time.

This was his chance to rush out!

However, as Shao Xuan accumulated his power and just intended to go upstream, the surrounding water suddenly changed.

Unlike the way when the beast appeared, the change was a massive flow of seawater, like it were going to form a whirlpool.

The sea water changed very quickly in such a short period of time. Shao Xuan simply could not escape out of it and could only follow his instinct, squatting and clinging to the rugged stone by his feet.

A whirlpool truly formed around him, but not the kind of whirlpool usually seen on the sea. It was formed vertically and the center of the whirlpool was exactly where Shao Xuan was.

The flow of water orbiting its axis showed that the underside of this rock was not in full contact with the sea floor. The rotating flow of water could then flow below.

Around him, there was a suction of everything. Shao Xuan’s body temperature was getting lower to as cold as the sea as the suction continued away. Feeling his body gradually losing its strength, Shao Xuan started to mobilize his totem power, pouring it into his body until his body temperature stabilized again to the normal range. After recovering to normal body temperature, Shao Xuan’s perception also improved.

When on land, if one freely mobilized his totem power in the mountain forest, it would be perceived by the beasts. Hence, if one wanted to hide and avoid the fierce beasts, one would not easily mobilize his totem power to the peak, unless it was the moment before a battle.

But here, Shao Xuan also originally wanted to guard against those undersea monsters. Checking his surroundings using his totem power, he thought that this site might be invaded. However, after observing more, Shao Xuan gradually realized that there was no giant beasts around, not even a small fish!!

The surrounding rips were getting bigger and bigger, and they were still rising rapidly.

Shao Xuan felt like a previous injury that has already been a scab, cracked again and blood flew from the wound, splashing and getting caught in the sea water.

His whole body was under a great pressure of being teared apart. Shao Xuan felt that his bones were going to be dislocated. He could even hear the clicking of his bones, like wood panels shaking in the midst of a storm.
