Chapter 1053 - Staging a Show for Him
She wanted to avoid him.
“Where are you going?” Lu Jinwen grasped her waist. pulling her into his embrace from behind.
Lin Xuanji blushed, she moved, wanting to break free. “Don’t be like this, we’re in the kitchen. Someone will see us.”
“I gave them some other work to do, they’re not here anymore.” As if that explained everything, Lu Jinwen kissed her silken hair.
“…”
It was broad daylight and yet he behaved so affectionately, disregarding everyone else. He really was… thick-skinned.
“Why aren’t you embarrassed at all,” Lin Xuanji murmured, a smile hinting at the edges of her lips.
“I’m the owner of this place and you’re my wife. I’m free to do whatever I want,” he declared.
Pushing him away, Lin Xuanji turned around to leave.
There wasn’t any room for negotiation.
“You’re unhappy?” Lu Jinwen hugged her from behind, leaning forward to kiss her cheek.
Lin Xuanji’s face remained stern. “Let go of me!”
“Let’s spin in circles?”
“What?”
Lu Jinwen didn’t say a word, grasping her waist tightly, lifting her up from the ground as he spun. The ends of her cheongsam billowed out, her heart palpitated but she was very shocked at the same time.
“Ah!”
She made a sound, but the corners of her lips raised into a sweet smile.
“You’re feeling better now? Not angry anymore? I was just joking, the chinese medicine you drink everyday has a contraceptive effect, you won’t get pregnant. Moreover, we’ve been apart for all these years and we’re no longer young anymore. My only wish now is for you to recover and I can take you to travel the world. The world is so huge, I have to bring you outside and let you see the magnificent scenery. I just want us to live our lives ordinarily, from now until forever.”
As he murmured these words in his deep, husky voice, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge in her heart. He didn’t wish for anything else, he just wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
Lin Xuanji’s eyes reddened. She knew that she could no longer live for that long.
But Lu Jinwen on the other hand was filled with joy. He lifted her up, spinning around in circles on the spot. All the blissfulness he ever wished for was currently owned by him.
“Grandpa, Grandma.” Little Gu Yelin ran out. “What are you two doing in the kitchen? Why aren’t you two out after so long?”
Niuniu had come.
Lin Xuanji quickly pushed Lu Jinwen away. “Niuniu, breakfast is ready. Let’s get ready to eat.”
“Okay. Grandpa, let’s go, let’s go.”
Little Gu Yelin dragged Lu Jinwen away.
Lu Jinwen turned back to glance at Lin Xuanji. Whenever he saw her, the feeling of happiness only grew exponentially.
He left with Niuniu and went outside.
Lin Xuanji turned around, suddenly feeling something warm coming out of her nose.
Blood.
As she stood in front of the window, the sun rays shone down on her. She stretched her hands out, seeing the sun rays pass through her fingers.
Why did she feel so sad?
Why did she feel so reluctant to let go of everything?
It was all because of him.
She didn’t know since when, but she had started becoming greedy, yearning to spend all her time with him. She wished that time could pass slower, but she was already coming to the end of her life.
If she were to leave one day, what would he do?
…
In the hospital.
Wang Yanran signed the papers after convincing her father. The heart transplant surgery was going to take place today.
Before the surgery, the doctor would conduct a full body check on Lin Xuanji.
When he saw the report, the doctor’s face blanched. He looked at Lin Xuanji and couldn’t help but stammer, “Mrs Lu, t-the poison has spread to your heart, why didn’t you inform Mr Lu about it?”
Lin Xuanji shook her head. “Don’t let him know about it.”
“Mrs Lu…”
“Doctor, tell me honestly. How much time do I have left?” Lin Xuanji asked.
The doctor answered with a solemn expression, “48 hours at the most.”
48 hours?
That was fine.
“Continue with the heart transplant surgery.”
“But Mrs Lu, the heart transplant surgery won’t have any effect at all.”
“I know, just push me inside the operating theater and push me out when the time’s up. Just tell him that the heart transplant surgery has been a success.” Lin Xuanji smiled. “Let’s stage a show for him. Everyone will know about it, except for him.”
“Mrs Lu, why would you do that? If Mr Lu were to learn about the truth, the consequences would be dire.”
Why did she have to do that?
Lin Xuanji looked at the doctor. “Why? It’s because I’m a selfish person. I don’t want to see him break down and become hysterical in front of me. That’s why.”
…
Lin Xuanji was pushed into the operating theater and Lu Jinwen waited outside along the corridor.
“Dad.” Tang Mo’er and Gu Mohan had arrived.
Soon, a figure appeared along the corridor too. Tang Chenyi had also rushed back from Country A.
When Lu Jinwen looked at his daughter and son, his chiseled features appeared more gentle. “Didn’t I ask you two not to come? It’s just a minor surgery. With me here, everything is going to be fine.”
