Chapter 629 - The Studious Adam and Eve
The two children took a few steps back as anxiety and fear appeared on their faces at the sight of the approaching An Lin and Tina.
“Don’t be scared. We’re both good people,” Tina said with a slight smile, and her voice seemed to possess a soothing quality to it.
Sure enough, the two children were immediately a lot more reassured upon hearing Tina’s words as the anxiety and fear on their faces were replaced by a sense of curiosity, which glowed from their adorable eyes.
An Lin picked up the little boy while Tina happily picked up the little girl.
“Wow! His skin is so soft. He’s so cute!” An Lin couldn’t help but poke a finger at the little boy’s delicate cheek.
The little boy blinked his bright eyes and returned the favor by poking An Lin’s cheek with his own finger, which instantly drew a fit of laughter from An Lin.
Tina had also grown extremely fond of the little girl in her arms. The little girl sucked on her own thumb with an obedient expression, and a sweet smile appeared on her face from time to time, as if she thoroughly enjoyed being held by Tina.
“An Lin, we should give them names,” Tina suggested with a dainty smile.
There were too many eggs from which the nine tribes spawned, and she couldn’t be bothered naming all of them.
But now, there were only two humans, so it was a lot easier to name them.
An Lin thought to himself for a moment before coming up with a suggestion, “Why don’t we call them Adam and Eve?”
“Adam, Eve…” Tina repeated after An Lin before turning to look at him and asked, “Is there some sort of special meaning?”
“Er… not really. It was just what I had at the top of my mind.” An Lin waved his hand in reply.
“They’re good names. You’ll be called Adam and Eve from now on then,” Tina announced with a smile.
She had only just finished speaking when the Great Dao of heaven and earth began to rumble again.
A strange symbol suddenly appeared on the foreheads of the children.
The symbol on the little boy’s forehead was sharp and angular while the little girl’s symbol was more rounded and soft. At the same time, their auras became more ethereal and insubstantial. The symbols then disappeared just as quickly as they had appeared, and everything returned to normal.
An Lin was greatly startled by this as he turned to Tina and asked, “Did you just give them hacks?”
Tina pursed her lips. “No. I only gave them names. Everything else was bestowed upon them by this world…”
An Lin blinked with incomprehension. “Aren’t you this world?”
“No, that’s different. I am an omnipotent existence in this world, but this world and I are not one and the same, which means that this world is a separate entity in itself,” Tina explained as she wagged a slim finger.
An Lin looked back down at the children. Did that mean they had just been blessed by the world?
As expected of Adam and Eve, they installed their own hacks from birth! An Lin was quite eager to see what they would become when they grew up.
“These two children are newly-born, and their combat prowess is significantly inferior to all the other highly intelligent tribes. Even though we’re not going to provide them with too much help, we should still leave them with a food source,” An Lin suggested.
Tina thought to herself for a moment before she waved a hand, upon which seedlings sprouted from the ground before quickly growing to become huge trees within the span of a few seconds.
Immediately afterward, all types of different fruits grew on the trees.
The entire area in a radius of a thousand feet was instantly transformed into an orchard from which the alluring scent of fruits wafted through the air.
An Lin was already accustomed to Tina’s power of creation, so he wasn’t even surprised by the sudden emergence of the orchard anymore…
“Are there forbidden fruits in the orchard?” An Lin asked before he had a chance to stop himself.
“Forbidden fruit? What kind of fruit is that?” Tina blinked in confusion.
An Lin heaved a sigh of relief. Thank God there were no precursors to Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit. Otherwise, he was going to start doubting whether he was playing some sort of simulation game.
“I have planted the seed of the Tai Chu Language in their bodies so that they will gradually learn the language without being taught. After all, it’s going to take far too long for all the tribes to develop a universal language,” Tina said.
An Lin nodded upon hearing this. There was nothing further he could contribute to this topic.
Tina waved a hand, and two sets of intricate green garments appeared on the bodies of Adam and Eve.
The two of them looked down at the pretty clothes draped over their bodies as their eyes widened in astonishment and elation, as if a whole new world had been opened up to them.
Tina had added a protection spell technique to both sets of garments. After all, there were only two humans. If something were to happen to them, she would have to create the human race from scratch again. That would be a major inconvenience. To avoid such a situation, she might as well give them something to ensure their basic survival.
As for all the other tribes, they were all left to live and die of their own accord. After all, there were thousands of eggs for each tribe, so it wouldn’t be too much of a concern if a few of them died.
After that, An Lin and Tina left Adam and Eve to fend for themselves.
Time flashed by quickly, and Adam and Eve lived happy lives together.
They treated the orchard as their own home, and they would pick the fruits from the trees when they were hungry, or lie down on a tree branch to sleep when they were tired. They would also occasionally explore Qi Lou City, visiting all the shops and playing with the things inside.
Adam and Eve initially treated everything within Qi Lou City as toys, but they gradually learned to use everything as tools. Toys and tools began with the same two letters, but there was a massive difference between the two concepts.
After another one or two years, they stumbled upon a library before flicking through the toys known as “books”.
Adam and Eve found that they were able to somehow understand all the squiggly lines and symbols inscribed upon the pages of the books.
This was an extremely new and exciting experience for both of them as they read through one book after another. It was as if they had stumbled upon an oasis in the desert, and they were desperate to quench their thirst for knowledge.
They became truly absorbed by books, and they abandoned all their toys and even their food. Only after being completely drained from starvation did they remember to return to the orchard in order to fill their stomachs.
After a while, the two of them found this arrangement to be too inconvenient, and they carried a huge sack of fruit to the library, which they would feed on when they were hungry.
An Lin was in great admiration of Adam and Eve. If these two were living on Earth, they would be considered to be extreme bookworms and scholars.
There was no selective element to the books they were reading. They merely went along the bookshelf in sequential order. Initially, they were reading all types of stories. They were very confused by all these stories they came across as all of them involved terms and events they were unfamiliar with.
Gradually, they began to understand the concept of “human”. But weren’t they the only two humans? Who were all these other humans detailed in the stories?
Although they failed to understand a lot of what they were reading, this did nothing to dampen their enthusiasm toward books.
After reading through all the stories, they read through all the literature, science, and engineering books. They would also try to conduct a series of experiments according to what they had read on these books. Thankfully, this large city was not lacking in materials for them to conduct experiments, and their knowledge grew through their experimentations.
Thus, they lived several years like this, and even An Lin was in admiration of their determination and tenacity.
They were about twenty years old now, and Adam had become a handsome young man while Eve had grown to become a beautiful young woman with features rivaling that of a Celestial Maiden.
The two of them still studied hard every day, as if they had installed a hack that prevented them from experiencing boredom…
One day, Adam pulled out another book from the bookshelf.
This book had a peculiar yellow cover.
On the dated, yellow cover, there was the strange image of a man and a woman with their lips pressed together. There were also a few words inscribed on the cover—”Kama Sutra”.
