Chapter 424 - Lin Nuan Opened the Bottle
These pages filled her with shock…
Since Old Madam Fu already had so much private property, why did she care about the Kaide Corporation?
Lin Nuan wasn’t sure about the value of the Kaide Corporation. Perhaps she knew too little about it all…
She always felt that at her age, Old Madam Fu should be enjoying her sunset years in peace and contentment, without fighting for anything.
Old Madam Fu looked at Lin Nuan’s expression and smiled. Her tone sounded pleasant and amiable, and her expression was kind as well. “How about that, I told you that you wouldn’t lose out.”
From her perspective, Lin Nuan not only didn’t lose out, but she also managed to get her side of the bargain.
Lin Nuan put the papers in order and back into the file bag. She placed it in front of Old Madam Fu, while her other hand rested on her leg under the table.
“I’m just an ordinary person. Seeing all this did make my heart beat faster and impress me…” Lin Nuan spoke in a sincere tone. “But I only take what belongs to me. Otherwise, I can’t accept it.”
Old Madam Fu was pleased by her speech at first, but what she said after surprised her. She was even more impressed by Lin Nuan as she looked into her clear eyes.
Old Madam Fu nodded and replied, “It’s fine. There’s still time to come, and you can take your time to think about it. As long as you keep your marriage a secret, I’ll keep my word! It’s time to eat already, let’s have our meal!”
That meal tasted like chalk to Lin Nuan.
If she was dining with some random person, she could just boldly say she had no appetite and leave with her purse.
But it was Fu Huai’an’s grandmother. Lin Nuan had to accompany her throughout the meal and then take off.
As she left the restaurant, Uncle Hu had already opened the car door for Lin Nuan.
She put her hand on her stomach and felt it ache.
When she was still in school, Lin Nuan avoided contacting the Lin Family and refrained from using the allowance from them. She got a stomach illness because of her irregular schedule. After she graduated, Liang Mulan rushed over to visit Lin Nuan out of care and helped her recover from this illness.
Lin Nuan hadn’t felt the pain in her stomach ever since Liang Mulan’s care. Her stomachache today was probably due to the fact that she was angry while she ate.
Lin Nuan kept her hand on her stomach as she looked at the scenery outside.
Haicheng’s sunny skies began to dim by noon…
The wind grew stronger outside and blew a passerby’s hair and clothes into a mess. A red plastic bag that appeared out of nowhere was swirling in mid-air.
It looked like there was going to be heavy rain soon.
The people on the streets began to sense the coolness and increased their speed.
Lin Nuan’s stomach felt worse and worse by the minute, and she began to sweat. Uncle Hu intentionally lowered the temperature in the car since Lin Nuan wasn’t wearing much. However, this only made her feel stuffy.
She rolled down the window to let the breeze inside and felt momentarily better.
“Madam, is it too hot in here? I’ll lower the temperature!” Uncle Hu noticed Lin Nuan rolling down the window and adjusted the temperature as he spoke.
“It’s alright, I just want to feel the breeze…”Lin Nuan said, her stomach still aching.
The car stopped at a red light, and Lin Nuan spotted a pharmacy in front of them.
“Uncle Hu, please pull over there. I need to visit the pharmacy.”
Uncle Hu agreed and pulled over. He unbuckled his seatbelt and turned around to ask, “Madam, are you not feeling well? I can buy whatever medicine you need!”
Uncle Hu just realized that Lin Nuan’s face was completely pale, unlike her usual fair complexion. “Madam, why does your face look so pale? Does it really hurt? How about we go to the hospital?”
Lin Nuan took her wallet and phone out of her purse and smiled at him. “It’s been on and off for a long time. All I need is some medicine! Wait for me for a moment…”
Uncle Hu couldn’t stop her from getting out of the car. He was concerned and got out of the car and leaned against the door, watching Lin Nuan enter the store…
He couldn’t leave since this wasn’t a parking area.
Lin Nuan didn’t notice the sign that said no parking because her pain was overwhelming.
The strong wind blew her ponytail into a mess. It hurt slightly to feel her hair whipping against her face. She tucked the loose strands behind her ear and walked inside the pharmacy.
“Hello, what do you need?” An elderly woman wearing a white uniform approached Lin Nuan and asked.
“Hello, please help get me a Da Xi medication,” Lin Nuan said in a low voice since her stomach was still in pain.
The older woman came over and examined Lin Nuan. When she took the medicine, the woman recognized Lin Nuan and exclaimed, “Hey! You’re Lin Nuan, right? The host of ‘A Sunday Date’! The Lin Nuan that went to Iraq for that son of the Wen Family!”
Lin Nuan smiled awkwardly and passed the medicine to the cashier. She then reached for a bill in her purse and handed it to her.
Once the woman spoke with her loud voice, everyone in the shop looked towards Lin Nuan…
The older woman behind Lin Nuan kept blabbing. “You’re even prettier in person than you are on television! What was that Wen guy thinking? He had to marry that lousy Gu Hanyan instead of a great girl like you!”
The young cashier took the money and stared at Lin Nuan. She forgot about the customers queuing behind her and asked in a low voice, “Lin Nuan, I really like you. I used to listen to your broadcasts often… could you give me your autograph?”
Lin Nuan held back her stomachache and smiled while nodding.
She stood beside them and took the pen the young cashier passed her. A few other people came up and asked for photos together.
Lin Nuan agreed to them all.
When she finally walked out of the shop with the medicine, it had already begun to drizzle outside.
She was afraid of being recognized again, so she didn’t go to a brightly-lit store. Instead, she went to a dimly-lit shop selling alcohol and tobacco to buy a bottle of mineral water…
Before she could pay, a large hand reached out from behind her and put a pack of cigarettes on the glass counter.
She heard a deep and melodic voice come from behind her. “These are together.”
Lin Nuan looked back and was surprised to see Lin Chen. “Brother? Why are you here?”
Lin Chen passed some money to the owner of the shop and took the bottle of water and cigarettes. He said that there was no need for change and left with Lin Nuan. “I finished all my cigarettes, so I came down to get a pack.”
Lin Nuan nodded.
The two stood under the roof as Lin Chen opened the bottle and passed the water to Lin Nuan.
She took the medicine with the water. Lin Chen had already opened his pack of cigarettes and shook one out, which he held in the corner of his mouth.
“Is your stomach uncomfortable?” Lin Chen asked.
Lin Nuan nodded.
“Have you eaten lunch?” Lin Chen held one hand around the flame from the lighter and lit the cigarette.
