Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

Chapter 713 - You Can Call Me Ning

“What are you looking at?” She looked over as well.

There was a row of black benches in the corner of the police station. A young, lean man was sitting upright in the corner. He was watching the television above him, and his side profile accentuated his sharp features. His jawline was perfect, and he was wearing a white tracksuit. His glow seemed out of place in a dingy place like the police station.

Nian Xi was shocked. She swallowed the pancake in her mouth and her lips hung slightly apart. “He…”

“Nian Xi, you are finally here,” a policewoman, Chen Shunhua, said. “Someone brought him here. Apparently, he asked one our colleagues to bring him here when he saw him on patrol duty. I think he is mute. He doesn’t respond to any of us. I thought he might be deaf, too, but Brother Zhou said that he might be looking for you.”

“For…for me?” Nian Xi had an uneasy feeling about this.

Chen Shunhua chuckled. “I heard from Brother Zhou that when you brought him here the last time…you groped his balls. He’s probably here to hold you responsible for what happened.”

Nian Xi was coughing now. Her face and neck were red.

Chen Shunhua patted her back. “Don’t worry. I can understand. He is a really good-looking fella. If I were younger, I might have done the same too.”

Nian Xi wanted to bury herself in a hole. That had been an accident. Brother Zhou was such a blabbermouth.

Just as she was hesitating about approaching him, Jiang Yuning suddenly turned to look at her. When they made eye contact, he blinked quickly.

He stood up and walked briskly over to her with his lanky body. Stopping right in front of her, he suddenly bent down, drawing his face closer to hers. When they were inches away, Nian Xi was enraptured by long lashes, fluttering like the wings of a butterfly.

She was in a daze watching him, and she forgot to back away when his hand landed on the corner of her mouth.

His hands were chilly, and when he touched her skin, she shivered and stepped backwards. She glared at him and asked, “What are you doing?”

Jiang Yuning blinked innocently and put his hand out in front of her. There was a speck of green onion on his finger. It must have been on her face after she ate that pancake.

She breathed a sigh of relief. She was really nervous because of what Chen Shunhua had said.

“Why are you here? Don’t tell me you’re lost again,” Nian Xi said unceremoniously.

Jiang Yuning nodded his head.

Nian Xi brought a hand to her forehead. “If you have such a terrible sense of direction, you should bring your phone. Where are the people who take care of you? Can’t they find you with the tracking device in your watch?”

Jiang Yuning fished out a notepad and wrote quickly, “They don’t know I’m out. They will look for me in the day.”

Nian Xi wanted to break down. Why did he have to spend the night here again?

“Are you counting on me to take you in again? I’m not running a shelter, alright? Why didn’t you go to another police station?”

Jiang Yuning blinked quickly and wrote, “Because you are here.”

What did that mean? Was she familiar with him? He was making things sound too scandalous between them. They had only met once before.

“I don’t think we know each other that well. I don’t even know your name.”

What was the matter with this guy? Why did he always have to appear when she was in the worst of moods?

Jiang Yuning stared at her for a while before writing again. “You can call me Ning.”
