Chapter 1383 - Greedy You Xiaoke
Chapter 1382 – Greedy You Xiaoke
After Lin Yi opened the chest without trouble, Elder Yu became more confident. He walked over and speedily opened the other chests, and realized that they were all pearls and gold. It was a little disappointing, “You’re right- let’s go look at the other displays.”
“These items…” Xiaoke, however, was pointing at them, much enticed.
“If you like them, Flying sparrow, just take them all,” Old Hei clearly didn’t care about this stuff- might as well give all of it to Xiaoke if she wanted it, she would put in more effort later.
“Really?” Xiaoke paused, overjoyed. She quickly took out a bag and put all the gold and pearls inside- this was much more practical than all those ancient antique stuff, this stuff was money once brought back!
With her personality, she’d rather be dead-tired carrying all this weight rather than let the money go!
Lin Yi’s mouth twitched a bit, speechless. This Xiaoke sure was greedy for money, although thinking about it, this heavy stuff was the only thing she’d be able to take home, since the other stuff had too many powers fighting over them.
Xiaoke started stuffing everything in, her lips smiling all the way up her ears. This could help the orphanage sustain itself for quite a while, of course she’d be excited!
Xiaoke put all the stuff into the chest and went to the other chest, but just as she touched a golden bar in the chest, Lin Yi’s jade sounded!
The empty passageway behind them suddenly had a boulder and quietly appeared above Xiaoke- the moment she touched that gold bar, the boulder came down with a clack, aiming for her head!
“Careful!” Lin Yi cried out- Xiaoke had already felt something above her, and looked up to see a gigantic boulder coming at her!
Xiaoke’s soul froze that instant- she had just gotten gold for the orphanage, it was such a positive thing- and now she had to die here? She was so unwilling.
After all, Xiaoke was actually a really smart thief. Her behaviour in the tomb also proved that, but this time she really did get overwhelmed by her greed. She may have been subconsciously alert when they got the first chest, but she slowly began to relax as she went on to the other chests, and seeing the others move on so quickly made her rush a little- it was a big mistake…
Lin Yi looked at Xiaoke staring at the boulder like an idiot without moving- he charged right over, grabbed her, and ran to the other side, barely dodging the boulder as it landed on the floor with a huge crash. The boulder destroyed the chest under it as well as bringing multiple other chests into the ground with it. A person would have died under it.
“My gold…” Xiaoke looked back- her bag was crushed under the rock, and she felt a sharp stab of pain. All that money, gone!
Lin Yi didn’t know if he should be amused or not by her behavior- she was almost dead, and she was still thinking about the money? He subconsciously slapped her to wake her up, “You Xiaoke, you almost died and you’re still thinking about money? Can you not let greed wash over your face like that, with you’re amount of skill, you’re doing stuff like this? I can save you once, but I can’t save you every time!”
“Ah-!” Xiaoke cried out from the slap, out of shock- this was because his other hand was on her chest! As a result, his words were filtered out, and she was embarrassed and enraged at the same time, “Your… Your hand…”
‘My hand?” Lin Yi blinked, evidently still mad, not reacting in time- although he subconsciously moved his hand in response.
“Your hand, you’re still- squeezing!” Xiaoke was getting pissed off. She jumped away from Lin Yi, “You’re taking a-advantage of me!”
Lin Yi froze and looked at his hand, remembering the sensation… It seems like he had been touching her chest? Seriously, did that really happen, he got to do something he barely had the chance to do, and he wasn’t even aware of it!
“I didn’t notice… because of the emergency,” Lin Yi said, awkward- though that was the truth. He was trying to save Xiaoke, there was no time thinking about whether his hand touched her chest or not.
“Oh…” Xiaoke wasn’t stupid either- remembering what just happened, she realized immediately. Although she did feel that she lost something after he felt her up like that, she was still grateful, “Thanks…”
“Alright, let’s go,” Lin Yi said faintly and went to Elder Yu and Old Hei. His goal was the notes, and he couldn’t let Elder Yu sneak away with them.
“Oh…” Xiaoke looked at the boulder, unwilling to part, though she knew that it was too late for that. She sighed and moved on.
Yutian walked on as well, not saying anything- this had nothing to do with him. Lingshan, on the other hand, had been frowning a little as she looked at the two- the vibe they were giving off irritated her.
In front of them, Elder Yu and Old Hei were looking at the stuff inside the displays- they were antiques, with all of them extraordinary and highly priced. Of course, this was only relative- they might not have been worth much back then, and so they were abandoned in the outer circle of this tomb. Though, as time passed, these became true antiques.
Xiaoke kept her mouth shut- she still felt like she was in a blur after everything that had just happened. Her eyes lit up- wait, did he call her by her name just now? You Xiaoke?
Did he call her that?
