Chapter 1341 - A Positive Evaluation
A player who saw that whole scene was touched and immediately ran over to try his luck.
“Hello Mr Harris. I want to learn Kidney Shot.”
He felt like Mr Ed Harris was the most human out of all the trainers.
“I’m sorry, I can’t just teach you that skill.”
This answer disappointed the player, but Lu Li quickly added with a smile, “But if you do me a favour, I can consider giving it to you.”
Kidney Shot was a Thief crowd-control skill, which made it more valuable than Backhand Backstab. It was impossible for the System to give it to the player directly.
Lu Li glanced at the booklet and found that the player could obtain it by completing a quest. He personally wouldn’t have done this to the player, but it was something a real NPC would do.
“Really? Mr Harris, wait no, Grandpa Harris, you are such a good person,” the Thief sniffed. He was about to start crying.
“Respected…” Lu Li muttered as he looked for the player’s name in the booklet, “Phone Cover… Cough, what a strange name. Regardless, I am glad that you are eager to solve this problem for me, but I first have to ask you a question.”
“If there is a wolf in your way, how will you choose to get past it? One option is to go around, another option is to kill the wolf, another is to sneak past and the last is to wait for backup.”
Phone Cover was dumbfounded – what kind of question was this?
“I would kill the wolf, Grandpa Harris. Have I chosen incorrectly?”
After seeing Lu Li’s expression turn a bit sour, Phone Cover thought that he had chosen the wrong option.
“You didn’t, child. There is no right or wrong answer. You now need to kill Bridgeman to get what you want. Bridgeman is a Northshire Abbey Paladin, but he is undercover. Humph, we have known for some time that he is actually a Blood Elf,” Lu Li said as he looked at the player sympathetically, then added, “But you cannot team up or seek help from anyone.”
There were no right or wrong answers from the four options.
The only difference was that picking the first option would mean the player would have a slightly cumbersome but not too risky quest. They would only need to expose Bridgeman. The second option was the hardest task, as the player had to face Bridgeman alone.
The fourth option meant that the player could team up to kill Bridgeman, which was quite low risk as well.
However, the easiest option was the third one. All you had to do was go to a Stormwind City NPC to inform them about Bridgeman, which was also part of a Thief’s role.
Unfortunately, in a demonstration of his bravery, Phone Cover had decided to choose the second one. This meant that he had to kill the NPC traitor of the same level alone. If Lu Li was in his position, he wouldn’t have a problem doing it, but this player hadn’t even learned Kidney Shot, so he couldn’t have known much else.
However, he quickly also realized that things were better than he thought.
When Phone Cover made this choice and the new quest appeared, Lu Li found two bottles of potions in his hands. Both of them increased attack power by 50% for 10 minutes, which was enough to last to whole battle.
“You can use this potion to defeat Bridgeman, but you will need to defeat him before your time runs out. Otherwise, it will be very troublesome.”
After Lu Li calculated how long it would take, he decided to keep one of the bottles. Ten minutes for an effect like this was quite generous.
If he couldn’t deal with Bridgeman in ten minutes, there was no point giving him another potion.
This quest had given Lu Li two bottles of this potion. One of them was supposed to be the quest reward.
“Thank you, Grandpa Harris. You really are a living Buddha.”
Phone Cover was so moved that he almost cried again. He had felt like he was at a dead end, but he was so lucky to have found an NPC as kind as Mr Harris. As for the potion that Lu Li kept from him, there was no way of him knowing.
Even though two people completed same quest in the Dawn, the reward didn’t have to be the same. This was common sense.
“Go and come back quickly. May our ancestors be with you,” Lu Li said mercifully.
With two good interactions, Lu Li’s business seemed to be going well. There were always players coming in to learn skills and pick up quests, but the most important job for him was learning skills. After all, he was a professional trainer.
Most of them were basic skills that weren’t too difficult. Unlike other professional trainers, Lu Li would let the player practice once and then he would demonstrate once. The amount that they gained from that demonstrated varied, but all the players were inevitably grateful to him.
There was a professional trainer that was very well liked that had come the Stormwind City. This news quickly spread throughout the mainstream players.
Even Water Fairy received the news. On her end, her start was even smoother than Lu Li’s. After all, she was a beautiful woman no matter what she was wearing. With that face, she could even attract the eyes of Darnassus. Her equipment subtly highlighted her figure, creating look of great beauty.
However, as time went on, she didn’t do as well as Lu Li did.
After all, the players in the game wanted to advance in the game and many didn’t have time to look at beautiful NPCs. She was not that different from the other NPCs that were beautiful. Sometimes, the players would even think she wasn’t as skilled as an older professional trainer, so she didn’t get much business.
“You could explain the skills to the new people,” Lu Li said to Water Fairy as he was demonstrating a skill.
No one had discovered Mr Harris’ secret yet. They just felt that Harris’ smile was full of encouragement and kindness. The players would silently swear to be Mr Harris’ lifelong student and to carry on the skills that they had learned.
“I’m afraid I’ll say something wrong. The more I talk, the more I risk exposing myself,” Water Fairy said helplessly.
“I am learning to talk like the NPCs in the game. As long as you speak and act like an NPC, then they probably won’t find out,” Lu Li explained, giving her something to focus on. Water Fairy had analysed the way that the NPCs spoke, and this gave her another chance.
“May your dagger be sharp forever,” Lu Li said as he sent off another apprentice before seeing his EXP move slightly.
He had gained a lot EXP today by teaching the players’ skills or helping them complete quests. The progress he was currently making was at least ten times faster than farming normally.
After a period of competition and the preparations for the establishment of a training camp, there had been a long break and Lu Li had dropped off the Level Rankings for a few days.
Today, he was making a comeback. He had returned to the top 100 and was climbing up the rankings at an exaggerated pace.
This had already attracted a lot of attention. There had even been players sent to investigate where Lu Li was farming, but no one had seen him anywhere. Water Fairy was also steadily climbing the ranks in a similar way.
The couple was up to no good again; they were hiding somewhere and levelling together!
The EXP that they gained was great, but the more important thing was the Prestige they acquired. Prestige wasn’t something that was easily accumulated even after doing quests.
Lu Li found that when the players learned a skill and were satisfied by it, the more respect they showed and the more Prestige he would gain.
“Please, give me a positive evaluation!”
