Chapter 1388 - Elder Yu Blinded

Chapter 1387 – Elder Yu Blinded

Seeing Lin Yi give all the medicine to Xiaoke, Elder Yu felt nothing but frustration. But there was nothing he could say- with a hmph, he turned around and left the treasure room, taking a look outside.

Xiaoke happily kept everything Lin Yi gave her, and went with him to the next room.

Old Hei opened the treasure room’s door, and Elder Yu burst in first- it was a room filled with ancient bookshelves, with many ancient texts and writings. Lin Yi walked in and took a sweeping look- other than medicinal books, there was stuff about botany as well, evidently used for herb research.

Seeing the study room, an excited look appeared on Elder Yu’s face- it seemed like what he was looking for was in here.

Old Hei had already gotten the stuff he wanted- coming in here was just him coming for the sake of being with them. What he wanted to know now, however, was how they were supposed to get out of the tomb? The road from earlier wouldn’t work for sure- climbing that thing wasn’t possible at all! The vertical height wasn’t as scary, but with the curves and everything of the smooth tunnel, it was impossible to climb up without tools.

He could only focus his attention on finding other exits, but they weren’t exactly easy to find. Right now, his only hope was Xiaoke and Lin Yi- in here, they were the better ones, along with him himself, who had experience. Elder Yu… a coward and prideful man like him wouldn’t be of any help.

Elder Yu started walking around the bookshelves right after entering, but to his helplessness there were simply too many books, almost to the point of scaring him. There might even be a tens of thousands of books in there, or at least a couple thousand, all squeezed together! It messed with Elder Yu’s eyes.

Seeing the medicine books, one after another, Elder Yu frowned- how was he going to find what he wanted?

“Come, help me look! If we find it I’ll let you have a copy!” Elder Yu said, thinking about it before turning to Lin Yi. It would be much easier if they worked together, and he had to give him some incentive right now to motivate him. Although, he didn’t understand- what did Lin Yi want the medical notes for?

Wasn’t he just a graverobber? There were so many medical books here, and he just wanted that medical notes- wasn’t this just going against him?

Lin Yi didn’t rush into anything, nor go up into the shelves- stuff like medical notes was different from these doctoral texts. It was more like a journal, usually talking about what patient was cured today, or what patients were expected tomorrow. This was something you had with you, not something you stored in a library.

“It probably isn’t here, no point,” Lin Yi said faintly, “The stuff here are all works by famous doctors, but the medical notes is a personal item. It’s probably placed with the other daily personal items of Zhang Liju. If I’m right, it should be in the final stone room.”

“Oh? Let’s go to the last room then!” Elder Yu said after some hesitation. He nodded, thinking that what Lin Yi said had made sense.

The others weren’t interested in ancient texts, and while it was a pity to leave these precious books here- some of which were lost to the world already- Lin Yi didn’t mind. Old Lin had a bigger trove of books at his house- he basically had everything!

Lin Yi left the treasure room first, and went to the stone door first. This was the final door- at least, it was the final door of this one hundred meter path. Any further down the path only had stone walls- though the only light source they had with them was the flashlight,so they couldn’t be sure of the situation yet.

But as they reached the stone door, Lin Yi didn’t reach for the door- his jade had given him a faint warning, and when he got close to the door, it started getting more intense.

So he didn’t do anything and just stood there, waiting for Elder Yu to come over.

“Why aren’t you going in?” Elder Yu blinked.

“Waiting for you, or else you’re going to keep barking about me stealing stuff again,” Lin Yi said faintly.

“Hmph, you just want to copy the medical notes so you’re trying to get on my good side, huh?” Elder Yu hmphed coldly and proudly. With that, he pushed the door and walked in.

But the instant after he entered, a cry of pain shrieked out, “My eyes! My eyes, this is bad! There’s poison in the room!”

Standing in front of the door, Old Hei was about to follow him in but stopped just in time. There really was danger in here, and they had just gotten used to the safety, too! Even Elder Yu had been hurt?

“Male thief, you dared to put me into this! You used me as cannon fodder!” Elder Yu raged as he charged out- his eyes were wide open, but his left eye was completely fazed and unreactive- evidently, there was something wrong! The right eye was the only normal one!

Lin Yi smiled coldly as he looked at him. No shit, of course he used him as cannon fodder! Unfortunately, however, Elder Yu only lost one of his eyes, and wasn’t completely blinded. This did help him, but it wasn’t really enough if the two of them were to fight!

“Use you as cannon fodder? Are you serious right now? You’re the one who went in, what’s it got to do with me? I’m not the damn architect!” Lin Yi scoffed coldly, “I already reminded everyone that there might still be danger in here, why are you blaming me when you were the one that was not careful?”

“That’s…” Elder Yu was at a loss for words. He was right, he was the one who was careless, he couldn’t blame anybody. Lin Yi had warned them that there might be danger in here still, it was just that he had lowered his guard after the eventlessness of the treasure rooms!

“Elder Yu, your eye… Inside…” Old Hei said, worried.

“There’s poison fog here, if it weren’t for my reflex, my other eye would’ve been destroyed as well!” Elder Yu said, pissed off.

“You deserve it. You’re always charging headfirst into rooms, as if others are going to steal your stuff,” Lin Yi said mockingly, “Are you going in or not?”

With that, he ignored Elder Yu and walked past him, right into the room. The fog was only created the instant the door was opened, and it had dissipated by the time Lin Yi walked in- Lin Yi’s jade had stopped ringing.
