Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

Chapter 869

Fang Qi was stunned.

Writing was more tiring, wasn’t it? He couldn’t fathom the mind of this man.

Nian Xi felt embarrassed. She was worried that Jiang Yuning would write something else even more inappropriate. She quickly said, “Let’s all head in, it’s too sunny out here.”

She was mocked and ridiculed last night; she wouldn’t allow it to happen again. Jiang Yuning glanced up at the sky before walking indoors. After taking a few steps, he turned to look at Nian Xi. He stopped and turned a couple more times.

Everyone, “…”

Nian Xi had a headache; he was being too obvious. She might as well lead the way. Jiang Yuning followed her quickly, like her little sidekick; he wasn’t turning anymore.

There were various fruits and nuts placed on the coffee table in the main living room. It was obvious that it wasn’t prepared by Jiang Yuning. Uncle Han beckoned them to sit. “Help yourselves, no need to hold back. I’m grateful to all of you for protecting our mister. Thank you, officers.”

“Mr. Jiang is devoting himself to the work of science. It’s our duty to protect him,” Zhan Hong said politely as he took his seat. Nian Xi sat down as well.

Just as Fang Qi was about to sit down next to Nian Xi, a figure rushed forward and grabbed the seat next to her. Jiang Yuning handed over a slice of watermelon to Nian Xi and looked at her expectantly.

“…Thank you.” Nian Xi took the watermelon. She was feeling extremely self-conscious in front of the rest of them. “Um… you should give a slice to the others as well.”

Jiang Yuning lowered his head and wrote something, then handed the note to Zhan Hong, Fang Qi, and Huo Lizhi. ‘Get one yourselves,’ it read.

“…”

The difference in treatment was obvious.

Huo Lizhi was looking at Nian Xi with mockery in his eyes.

Nian Xi started eating the watermelon since the situation was going to be uncomfortable anyway. After she took a bite, she exclaimed, “This is delicious. I’ve never tasted watermelon this juicy and refreshing before!”

“Are you exaggerating?” Fang Qi took a bite of the watermelon and he was also stunned. “It’s really delicious.”

Uncle Han smiled, “This is a special breed of watermelon that Mr. Jiang’s father cultivated; it’s a genetically modified version.”

They remembered that Mr. Jiang’s father was a biologist.

Zhan Hong said, “This watermelon would be a huge hit if it was released to the masses.”

“The cost would be too high,” Uncle Han said. “The seedling would cost about two hundred dollars. Not to mention that each vine can only produce one fruit. The watermelon will have to be sold at a thousand dollars for it to be profitable. No one would pay for that.”

Nian Xi was speechless. “Why did he spend so much time to develop this technology then? What a waste of brain cells.”

Uncle Han smiled. “Because Professor Han loves watermelons.”

The crowd was silent again. The whole family was a bunch of weirdos, but it was one delicious watermelon. They quickly gobbled it up. Afterward, they had strawberries, oranges, and cherries; they were all delicious.

Nian Xi asked, “Don’t tell me these are special breeds grown by Mr. Jiang’s father as well?”

Before Uncle Han spoke, Jiang Yuning was already nodding his head. Nian Xi stopped herself. She was going to say that whoever becomes the daughter-in-law of the Jiang family would be a lucky girl to be able to access such amazing fruit and produce.

She was scared that Jiang Yuning would write, “You can be my wife,” and embarrass her further. However, Fang Qi said her thoughts aloud, “Mr. Jiang, your wife would be a lucky woman.”

Jiang Yuning looked at Nian Xi.

Why did he look at her? She wasn’t planning on being Jiang Yuning’s wife.
