Chapter 44
Su Tang carefully pulled out a plant that looked a little wilted.
Old Nick muttered, “Hmm? Why is there a piece of grass in there? I must have accidentally dug it up along with the herbs. Let me toss it out!”
Su Tang quickly dodged Old Nick.
She explained, “Old Nick, this herb can be used to stop inflammation and bleeding! Where did you find it?”
Old Nick looked with his eyes wide in surprise. “Isn’t it just some weed?”
“This is ink grass. It’s a pretty common herb used for preventing inflammation and bleeding. After mashing it up, it can be applied to the injury! Since it’s very effective at staunching bleeding and inflammation, it can be used on patients who suffer from a fever after getting hurt!”
Old Nick kept stroking his gray goatee as he said with fear lingering in his heart, “I’m so glad I didn’t toss it out! Are there any other herbs in there?”
Su Tang set aside the ink grass. She carefully checked the bundle of weeds before she shook her head disappointedly.
“That’s all. That’s the only medicinal herb in there. Do you remember where it came from? This herb is very useful. It can be pounded into powder form for storage. You can take it with you when you hunt and scatter it over your wounds to staunch bleeding when you are hurt!”
Before Su Tang finished what she was saying, Old Nick headed out as he said, “I will go back and find more!”
Yuanyuan happened to return with water.
Su Tang used the water in the earthenware jar to wash the ink grass before rinsing her hands with the rest of the water.
Yuanyuan went out with the empty jar to fetch more water from the river.
She handed Cain the ink grass and asked nicely, “Can you chew this up?”
Cain put the herb into his mouth without hesitation.
Su Tang smiled mischievously.
Since Cain always looked so serious and expressionless, Su Tang could not help wanting to tease him. Ink grass was one of the most bitter herbs out there!
However, Cain had already spat the herbs out without even batting an eye.
Su Tang could not help suspecting she made a mistake about the ink grass. Was it not ink grass?
She quickly placed a little ink grass into her mouth and chewed it. The familiar bitter taste quickly spread throughout her mouth.
“Blagh!”
Su Tang looked at Cain angrily. “Isn’t it bitter?”
Cain shook her head. “Nope!”
Su Tang was dumbstruck: “…”
Did she just shoot herself in the foot?
“How do we use this?” Cain pointed at the medicinal paste in his hand.
Su Tang stopped teasing him and rolled her sleeves up as she said, “Give them to me! Chew more!”
She applied the medicinal herb paste evenly on Meng Ze’s wounds. “This might hurt a little, so bear with it!”
Meng Ze nodded slightly.
The herb was just enough to apply on all of Meng Ze’s wounds!
She used her white robe to bandage Meng Ze’s wounds before she looked at the setting sun and said to Cain, “Can you carry Meng Ze back into the cave? It’s getting a little cold. Now that he has taken medicine, just cover him with animal skin and let him have some rest. His fever will subside after he breaks a sweat!”
“Okay!”
After Cain carried Meng Ze back to the cave, Su Tang could not help laughing out loud.
Since Cain had helped to chew up many herbs, his teeth and lips had a dark green stain and made him look hilarious!
“Cain, the sun is about to set. Let’s hurry over to the river and clean up, orr else, the herb stains won’t come off!”
“Okay!”
