Chapter 1882 - What Goes Around Comes Around (3)
Qin Chu was much more ruthless than he was four years ago.
He said he wasn’t going to kill the man, so he didn’t. Rather, he got up and walked away, giving the man a chance to stagger away in pain.
The entire process took less than 5 minutes.
“Honey, let’s go home.” Qin Chu walked in with a bag of cigarettes.
“Mhm.” Huo Mian nodded, turning around to face Ni Yang. “Take good care of yourself, and be careful in the future, alright?”
“I will, after Chinese New Year, I’m going to ask President Su if I can go on leave.”
“You’re going on leave? To travel?”
“No, to get married.”
“That’s great! Don’t worry, I’ll give you guys a big red pocket.”
Then, Huo Mian and Qin Chu walked out of the room with smiles.
“Honey, why is there blood on your hands?” Huo Mian, who used to be a nurse and doctor, was incredibly sensitive to the smell of blood.
“Mhm?” Qin Chu looked down; he didn’t pay much attention just now, but perhaps he got the man’s blood on him just now.
“Look at the blood, are you hurt?” Huo Mian asked worriedly.
“No, I’m not. Just now, when I was heading in, an ambulance drove in with a car-crash patient, and I helped push the gurney… I guess that’s where the blood came from,” Mr. Qin said, randomly thinking of an explanation.
“Oh, good, you scared me.”
“Honey, are you scared that I might get hurt?”
“What do you think?” Huo Mian asked, rolling her eyes at him.
“Don’t worry, I’m strong now. Not only will I protect myself, I will also protect you and the twins.”
After hearing this, Huo Mian let out a small sigh of relief.
– Huo Family Mansion –
Huo Siqian hadn’t been sleeping well recently, and in his dreams, he often saw people that were already dead.
He wondered if it was a bad omen.
He dreamed of Huo Zhenghai standing in the mansion wearing a white shirt and pants; he dreamed of Song Yishi lying in the bathtub, her face covered with blood.
Even someone as calm as him felt unsettled… He was so nervous that he didn’t even have the guts to sleep with the lights off at night.
The saying was right – a quiet conscience sleeps in thunder – but he couldn’t. Those who commit sins would be afraid of ghosts knocking at night.
“Boss, are you asleep?”
Upon hearing the knocks and voices outside the door, Huo Siqian woke up with a start, sweat all over his forehead.
“What is it?” Annoyed, he got out of bed and put on his robe.
“Boss, something happened to Ah-Li.”
Upon hearing this, Huo Siqian frowned and opened his room door.
Ah-Li was one of his best – he was quick, vicious, and virtually undefeatable.
He had been working under Huo Siqian for more than five years and was someone he could trust.
Ah-Li was lying on the floor of Huo Siqian’s living room when the latter walked down the stairs. His face was pale, and the knife was still jammed into his right palm.
Huo Siqian gritted his teeth and demanded angrily, “What happened, who did this?”
“Boss, I…” The other men didn’t dare say anything, and Ah-Li couldn’t respond, as he was unconscious from the pain.
“You, talk,” Huo Siqian tilted his head and shouted at one of his lackeys.
“Boss, Brother Li saw how unhappy you’ve been. He knew that you’ve been worried ever since Qin Chu came back and talked about doing something about it but didn’t, so…”
Then, the man paused.
“Go on,” Huo Siqian said, his voice as old as ice.
“So, Brother Li wanted to kill him behind your back. He’s been looking for an opportunity, and finally saw him by himself today at South Side. The timing was perfect, so he attacked… but not only did he fail, he even got himself hurt… Qin Chu stabbed him right in the hand…”
“What were you thinking! You idiots! You are really trying to piss me off to death!” Furious, Huo Siqian kicked the coffee table in front of him, smashing all the glasses atop it into a million pieces.
Mortified, none of his subordinates dared to even breathe…
