Chapter 778 - This Way Please, Ms. Lin!
Lin Nuan guessed that Li Muyang’s men definitely had blood on their hands…
To Ah Zhan, Fu Tianci was an unimportant villain. Without her around, Ah Zhan could shoot Fu Tianci… or perish together with him. Fu Tianci was just a child. What should they do?
“Sister Nuan?” The assistant director saw that the bodyguards were going to take Lin Nuan away when filming for the program was about to begin. He asked, “Do you need me to call the police?”
The assistant director wondered if Lin Nuan had gotten into trouble with people from the triads.
This was Jinjiang TV Station. Security could hold them off for some time before the police arrived!
“Sorry, Assistant Director. We may have to delay today’s program…”
The assistant director heard this, and his gaze swept over the burly foreign bodyguards. With a serious expression, he asked again, “Sister Nuan, do you need me to call the police?
“No need!” Lin Nuan turned back and glanced at Ah Zhan. “Sorry for not being able to film today when the production crew has already finished setting up!”
The assistant director knew that Lin Nuan had met with trouble, so how could he blame her? He quickly nodded. “I’ll talk to the director! Don’t worry! But… you really don’t need me to call the police?”
The assistant director confirmed with her once again.
Ah Zhan seemed to be holding onto Fu Tianci’s neck as he dragged him out of the messy dressing room, which he ordered his men to clean up.
Fu Tianci felt both scared and angry, but he held back his emotions as he walked outside with Ah Zhan.
Ah Zhan could tell that the assistant director was in charge, so he nodded towards him apologetically. “Sorry, I made a mess of the dressing room as I accidentally slipped and fell just now. My men will clean up the bloodstains inside. Ms. Lin will be back very soon. Don’t worry!”
The assistant director saw the blood dripping down Ah Zhan’s pants. Ah Zhan was holding onto Fu Tianci’s shoulders, and it looked as if Fu Tianci was helping the injured person out of kindness.
Lin Nuan and the others left with Ah Zhan as the assistant director watched them suspiciously…
Lin Nuan, Mu Taotao, and You Nainai were walking in front, while Ah Zhan and Fu Tianci were walking behind them.
From afar, a short, bespectacled man carrying a huge box peered out from behind the box and called out to Mu Taotao. “Mu Taotao!”
Mu Taotao turned to look towards the corridor and saw the man walking quickly towards her. He stumbled and clumsily fell on the floor…
The props in the box were scattered about on the floor. Even the hearing aid that he was wearing had dropped…
Mu Taotao stood at the elevator and had no intention of helping the man. The man quickly held onto the box and crouched down to pick up the hearing aid and put it on. He raised his head and pushed up the black-framed glasses perched atop his nose bridge. His white shirt and navy blue woolen cardigan made his face appear clean and fair. His hair was slightly messy, and he looked like a little puppy as he looked up at Mu Taotao.
The man paused upon seeing the burly foreigners in suits and asked, “Taotao, where are you going?”
Mu Taotao’s lips parted as she cast a sidewards glance at Ah Zhan and said, “I’m going out with Sister Nuan. Someone insisted on meeting her. We definitely won’t be able to film today’s program, so you don’t have to prepare for it anymore…”
“Huh? But the assistant director just told me to…”
Ah Zhan brought Fu Tianci over before the man could finish his sentence. The man looked over at Ah Zhan. He saw that he was limping on his injured right leg and that there was blood trailing behind him. Ah Zhan’s expression was so cold that it sent a chill down his spine.
“Ding—”
The elevator arrived, and Ah Zhan’s gaze swept over the short man, who was still kneeling on the floor. He said, “Get in!”
“This way, please, Ms. Lin!” Ah Zhan’s men said to Lin Nuan.
Mu Taotao followed them into the elevator.
The short man stared at them blankly and watched as Ah Zhan held onto Fu Tianci’s shoulder forcefully and entered the elevator.
The man’s black-framed glasses slid down his sharp nose. He looked adorable and dazed.
The elevator doors closed. The short man glanced at the other elevator and saw that it was still on the first floor. He took off his glasses and opened the phone app on the smartwatch on his wrist. He uploaded the photos he just took and quickly rushed to the stairway at the side. He pressed on his “hearing aid” and began to speak…
“Big Boss has been taken away by Lackey! I repeat, Big Boss has been taken away by Lackey! They’re now taking the elevator down! Wei Xiao, go to the underground parking lot. Zhou Deming, go to the first floor and get ready. Team G, standby at the entrance. The photos have been sent to you! Mu Taotao is with Big Boss and is following her for the time being. No one is to act recklessly! Do you read me?”
Lackey was the team’s codename for Ah Zhan, just like how Lin Nuan’s codename was Big Boss! Li Muyang’s codename was Frail Man.
1The chemistry the team had developed over many years was apparent. When Mu Taotao told the man that he didn’t have to prepare for the program anymore, he immediately understood that he couldn’t forcefully snatch Lin Nuan away and had to follow them first. They would decide what to do next once Mu Taotao gave the signal.
Tang Zheng had long since arranged for people to keep an eye on Li Muyang and Ah Zhan. But Tang Zheng’s men in Haicheng and this team under Fu Huai’an with blood on their hands hadn’t contacted each other. Furthermore, when Ah Zhan arrived, he intentionally arranged for someone to divert the attention of the people sent by Tang Zheng to spy on them.
When the two teams sent there by Fu Huai’an to protect Lin Nuan received the news, the team members already saw Ah Zhan go into Lin Nuan’s dressing room.
“Zhou Deming, roger!”
“Wei Xiao, roger, and in position!”
“Roger!”
“Roger!”
…
Both teams were made up of experienced people. When the orders were given, they were already in position, and nothing else needed to be said.
The elevator arrived on the first floor. When the doors opened, the people standing outside began to step foot into the elevator. However, when they saw the group of burly foreigners in suits, they stopped in their tracks.
“Excuse me…” Someone squeezed through the crowd with a camera in their hand and fiddled with the camera while walking towards the elevator. He was on the phone, with it being cradled between his head and his shoulder. “It’s coming down, it’s coming down! It’s coming down soon! I’m looking for the photo right now!”
“Is this going down?” The person took a moment to hold his phone and turned to ask the people in the elevator. He paused once he saw what was going on. He wanted to leave, but the elevator doors had already closed and nearly crushed his nose.
The man with the camera held his nose and gingerly took a step back. In a low voice, he said into the phone that he’d be there immediately. When he reached out to press the “B2” button, he saw that the button was already lit and silently ended the call. He pressed himself up against the elevator door and stood upright. He wasn’t looking through the photos anymore. His body stiff, he sized up the group of people through the glass walls of the elevator. Wariness and anxiety were evident in his eyes.
The moment the elevator doors opened, the man ran outside without even looking. The person outside walked into the elevator quickly, causing the two of them to bump into each other. The man with the camera stumbled backward, and his back knocked into Ah Zhan, causing him to fall on the floor. His phone dropped on the floor, and the battery flew out.
“Ah! My camera!” The man with the camera knelt on the ground to pick up his camera. He pushed his fears aside and reached out to grab his camera battery from underneath someone’s feet.
