Chapter 32
“Thank – Thank you, Miss.” The beautiful woman immediately expressed her gratitude upon arriving to the scene even as she panted from her recent exertion.
Pei Ge looked at the woman in front of her and thought to herself how good-looking the auntie, who possessed a certain air of elegance, was.
“It’s nothing, Auntie. Here is your bag.” Pei Ge smiled as she passed the pink handbag to the beautiful woman.
The beautiful woman was extremely grateful to get her handbag back. “Miss, thank you so much. If not for you, my love would be stolen by someone and I would never see it again.”
Eh? Love? What love? She only returned a handbag, right?
Pei Ge looked at the elegant woman in confusion, unable to comprehend what the latter was talking about.
“Love, it’s been hard on you.” The woman looked at her pink handbag with gentleness, her fair palm lovingly caressing it as though she were touching her own child.
“But…” Pei Ge was still hesitant. Although the slippers might not cost much, taking something from a stranger still did not sit well with her.
“No buts! When Auntie says take, you just have to take!” The woman tapped on Pei Ge’s arm as she said this firmly.
Thus, Pei Ge no longer resisted. Nodding her head with a smile, she sincerely expressed, “Thank you then, Auntie.”
“I should be the one thanking you, instead.” The woman smiled at Pei Ge, delighted at her views and personality. Perhaps, this lady would be a good fit for her son.
“Madam, Young Master just informed me that he’s coming over,” Qi Hui interrupted.
The woman’s eyes brightened at Qi Hui’s words, feeling excited at the prospect of introducing this young, cute lady to her son.
At this point, Pei Ge’s phone rang.
“Xiaoyue, don’t worry, I’m on my way back now.” Pei Ge hung up the phone after saying that and smiled at the woman.
“Auntie, I still have something on, so I’ll take my leave first. I’ll leave this thief for you to hand over to the police,” Pei Ge said softly as she pointed at the thief, who was being blocked from escaping by the crowd.
“Eh? Why don’t you wait a little while longer? My son is coming soon,” the woman pleaded.
“Auntie, my friend is waiting and her feet are hurt. I’m really sorry, but I have to leave first.” Without waiting for the woman’s reply, Pei Ge quickly left the scene.
The woman watched Pei Ge’s leaving figure, silently chiding her son for being so slow.
“Mom, are you alright?”
Coincidentally, the woman’s son arrived just as Pei Ge left.
The woman looked at her tall, handsome son and said with a depressed look, “Son, you’re too late! The woman I have my eyes on just left.”
“…” Ji Ziming raised his eyebrows. He laughed to himself as he thought about how this was the second time tonight that someone had chastised him about being late.
“Let’s go home, Mom.”
“Not yet. We still need to wait for the police to take this thief away.” The woman shook her head and pointed at the person lying on the ground.
Seeing the thief stuck at one corner, Ji Ziming frowned and asked Qi Hui coldly, “What happened?”
Before Qi Hui could answer, the woman narrated the whole story to Ji Ziming herself.
After hearing about the ins and outs of the incident, he thought of the woman in the video who had managed to handle four men by herself.
Are all women these days so independent and strong?
