The Great Thief

Chapter 1565 - Ancient Egg

Lu Li discovered that he, himself, was unable to quietly sneak into the cave.

This place had become a battlefield, with skills flying everywhere. His Stealth level was high, but even just one hit would reveal him.

As long as he poked out his head, both guilds would view him as an enemy. Perhaps they might even ally with each other and kill him off first. After all, no one was sure if he had come here to steal the Boss from them. By that point, if he died and dropped equipment, it would be too late to even cry.

Plus, if the Boss discovered his intentions, it would see him as an attack target instantly.

Even though the Boss was only level 40 or so, one hit was enough to wipe out this Leather-Armored Thief.

“Sister Maple are you here?” Lu Li asked in a private message.

“What’s up? I’m busy fighting,” Unforgettable Maple replied as he dodged an attack from the opponent’s Warrior and pinned his enemy to the ground in a single skill.

“I can see,” Lu Li said.

“Why you are still chatting when you can see?! Wait, you can see?”

“Yep, I’m squatting somewhere around 25 yards in front of your left,” Lu Li said as he smiled coldly. “Is this how you welcome your guests?”

  “Hehe.”

Unforgettable Maple withdrew his staff, as if the blizzard unleashed 25 yards to the left of him wasn’t his.

“I just want to see you so much. Who knew you were this dishonest? Don’t tell me Ruling Sword wants to steal this Boss as well.”

“No plans for that. I came here alone today,” Lu Li replied, as if he didn’t care that his opponent had just thrown a deadly skill at him.

“Then why are you here? Just passing by?” Unforgettable Maple asked unkindly.

“Just a quest. Can you help move me towards the centre of the battlefield? I’ll remember this; I owe you one,” Lu Li asked helplessly.

“You want to go into that cave behind the Boss?”

Unforgettable Maple observed and found Lu Li’s target, then carelessly said, “I’ve been in there several times; there’s not much in there. You must have triggered some special quest.”

“Nothing that special – just helping a girl from the guild with a task. You know there aren’t many girls who like doing quests in my team.”

  “I don’t believe you.”

“Are you gonna help or not? If not, I’ll just grab people to come participate in the battle,” Lu Li threatened him, but it wasn’t just alarmist talk. As long as Majin Temple and Stellar Club didn’t give up this cave, he would rather bring a team of people over and make this scene even more chaotic.

“The System updated today. You didn’t go to Blackwing’s Nest, and you didn’t try and unlock the new Instance Dungeon. Instead, you came here to help a girl with a quest? Do you think I’m seriously dumb?”

“Then what do you want to do?”

This was how the gaming circle worked. Sometimes, everyone could be good friends and share benefits, and introduce friends to each other’s clubs. However, when it came to personal interests, every single one of them was good at bargaining.

“Share this quest, or at least share with me how to trigger it once you’re done with it. My 6th sense is telling it’s very important,” Unforgettable Maple proposed.

He was the head of the almighty Majin temple. Even though the club was not as strong as the tri-faction alliance backing Lu Li, if it came to actual fighting, they wouldn’t fall immediately.

Moreover, Majin Temple was a very old guild and had their own allies.

“Only women have a 6th sense,” Lu Li said. He couldn’t help but roast him. If he knew he was going to be this difficult, he would have offered an exchange with Stellar Guild. He had just shot himself in the foot; he was a Thief through and through. The cunning old foxes in this gaming circle could not be underestimated.

“You’re already calling me Sister. So what? I just have a 6th sense,” Unforgettable Maple retorted. He was known for his thick skin.

“Okay I’ll tell you another time,” Lu Li agreed. People were going to find out about the quest sooner or later. Plus, he didn’t specify exactly when ‘another time’ was going to be. Perhaps it would be after they cleared Zul’Gurub; he was never afraid of being thick skinned.

“I was waiting for you to say that. I’ll get the Main Tanks to drag the monster away; you act as you see fit,” Unforgettable Maple said frankly. He was satisfied once he got what he wanted.

In fact, Lu Li’s words had hidden traps, and he could sense them too.

It was just that everyone knew where they stood. If he pushed him too hard, then he might not be able to reap any benefit out of Lu Li. He was straightforward now so that Lu Li had to take into account some goodwill.

The Main Tanks moved the evil priestess, and once the Boss moved, everyone else moved along with her. Then, the battle would naturally leave the cave’s location. Lu Li snuck into the cave straight away without anyone noticing.

He had visited this cave before and there was indeed nothing there.

However, the cave that used to hold nothing appeared with an additional egg once he received this quest.

This was probably the Ancient Egg.

Perhaps this was the egg laid by Hakkar!

The game lore was quite ridiculous at times; the demi-gods had to rely on laying eggs to continue their lineage. However, Hakkar was a snake, so it somewhat made sense.

Lu Li retrieved this huge egg and successfully put it in his sack.

“Stuff you Lu Li! What did you do? The Boss is going ballistic – go save yourself! Remember to share the quest!” Unforgettable Maple yelled in the communication channel to inform Lu Li, as he commanded people to return their original position.

“Thanks! I’ll send you a guide later,” Lu Li promised, then transformed into a crow and flew into the sky.

The evil priestess Hexx was going ballistic below and was even more agitated than usual.

From above, Lu Li could see each player turn into a white light. Moreover, the scope of this outbreak was spreading outwards. Ordinary Trolls and small monsters were also going ballistic and taking the lives of low-level players.

The guilt was only momentary as Lu Li hurried back to complete the mission. He didn’t care enough about what was happening below.

Plus, he believed that this type of chaos was only a temporary thing. As long as Majin Temple and Stellar Guild focused more on the Boss rather than each other, the evil priestess Hexx wouldn’t be too hard to deal with, even if she was going Berserk.

“I had many mates who died for this Ancient Egg,” Lu Li said, showing deep pain as he stood in front of the troll archaeologist Yeh’Kinya.

  “…”

Yeh’Kinya wanted to puke up blood.

“If it really was so hard, then why did you come back so quickly? It’s only been 10 or so minutes and you’ve already brought one back, and killed the evil priestess Hexx too.”
