The Most Loving Marriage In History: Master Mu’s Pampered Wife

Chapter 1124 - My Honor (3)

Mu Yinan spoke earnestly as rueful sentiments gathered in his aged eyes.

Mu Lingshi thought for a moment, then could not help but voice out what she had been keeping in mind for a long time, “Grandfather, you and Grandmother must’ve been very loving. Even though the two of you usually bickered, I could feel your love for Grandmother. Sometimes, I do envy the two of you. All these years, I’m most thankful for you and Grandmother, and Father and Mother for being a role model to us. It was all of you who gave us a happy and warm family.”

She finished the tea in her cup in a few gulps before she continued, “Sometimes, I think about how we seem like we don’t quite know how to be contented. We’re always wanting more without learning how to appreciate what we have, and that’s why we sometimes don’t get to keep all that we have instead.”

Suddenly, she laughed at the irony of things, then poured more tea for Mu Yinan. She was about to pour herself another cup when at this moment, a fair and slender hand stopped her from behind.

“Be careful with your health. You can’t just drink tea as you wish right now, even if it’s floral tea. Drink more nutritious things.”

When the calm voice came through, the two of them turned to see Xi Xiaye’s slender figure greet their sight.

“Sis-in-law, why are you back?” Mu Lingshi looked at Xi Xiaye in surprise.

Xi Xiaye beamed happily and sat down on the empty space beside her as she looked at Mu Yinan and responded, “I came back to visit. I was worried that you two would be too bored at home. Grandfather looks much better today.”

Mu Yinan chortled. “I’m alright. I know what you mean. I know what happened last night. You’re all too considerate. Because of your aunt’s matter, everyone’s been worried. I hope that there’ll be an explanation too, but I don’t want this to continue its vicious cycle either.

“Many times, fate has its reasons for the way things unfold. We shouldn’t ask for too much and can only go with the flow. This was also your aunt’s choice back then. As they say, a child’s errors are the father’s fault. It’s not just your aunt that caused the tragedy today. As parents, your grandmother and I are responsible as well, so you must learn a lesson from this. Don’t let anything come between you and your children.”

Mu Yinan was a very wise person. Since the matter had progressed the way it had, there was actually nothing else they could do but to reflect and learn from it. Everything we went through could become a wealth of experience if we reflected on it.

Xi Xiaye and Mu Lingshi exchanged a look and quickly nodded. “Yes, Grandfather. We’ll remember!”

“Good, good that you’ll remember. Just let this be a thing of the past. Let’s not talk about it anymore. Lingshi, you have to be careful, Doris might not let go of you so easily because of what happened to her. All these grudges and resentments may not be resolved so easily, so don’t go out if you don’t need to. Wait until you’ve given birth.”

 “Yes, Grandfather, I got it!”

“Let’s go back. Lunch should be ready by now. Xiaye, accompany me to pay respects to your grandmother in the afternoon. It’s time to go visit her!” Mu Yinan said as he slowly stood up and walked ahead with his hands behind his back.

“Got it, Grandfather!” Xi Xiaye answered, then helped Mu Lingshi to follow the old man.

After lunch, Xi Xiaye left the house with Mu Yinan. The butler had prepared joss sticks for them.

At Qingshan Cemetery that stood in the tranquility that transcended the mortal world, Xi Xiaye accompanied Mu Yinan to the cemetery. Only the two of them went over.

Xi Xiaye went to buy a bouquet of white daisies from the florist beside the cemetery. When she came back to Mu Yinan, she noticed that there was another person by his side.

Dressed in a white, long, loose blouse with a simple belt to accentuate the waist, her beautiful, dark hair cascaded over her shoulders and she wore a pair of sunglasses. Her slender figure looked very familiar.

Who else could this be if not Dongfang Liuyun whom she had met the other day?

She was talking to Mu Yinan, and it seemed like they had bumped into each other.

“Hello, Missus Mu!” When she saw Xi Xiaye walk over, Dongfang Liuyun took off the sunglasses on her and politely greeted her.

“Hello, Miss Dongfang. Just call me Xiaye! What are you doing here?”

“Okay, Xiaye, then you should just call me Liuyun like Grandfather Mu does! I just came back from City C and I usually take this route. I saw Grandfather Mu, so I decided to come down to take a look. Are you visiting Grandmother Mu?”

Dongfang Liuyun noticed the bouquet in Xi Xiaye’s arms.

Mu Yinan nodded. “We’re here to visit her. Go on home. Xiaye and I will go up now. We’ll drop by your place for some tea in a bit.”

Dongfang Liuyun smiled serenely. “Sure, you’re welcome anytime!”

When they were walking up the stairs, Xi Xiaye finally could not help but ask, “Grandfather, are you very close to Miss Dongfang?”

Xi Xiaye could tell that Dongfang Liuyun was quite a humble person, but recently Father Su had been having a headache about her because she did not seem willing to be stationed in University A. Father Su had even called her twice but she did not seem to relent.

Xi Xiaye naturally hoped that someone like her could stay at University A.

“We’re not that close, I guess, but she’s quite an easygoing person. Your grandmother admired her. Not long ago, she joked about introducing someone to Zhou Zimo, and she was referring to Dongfang Liuyun.”

“Zhou Zimo? Him and Dongfang Liuyun?” Xi Xiaye widened her eyes as a scene suddenly flashed in her mind. It seemed like Qi Lei and Dongfang Liuyun were quite close. He actually seemed quite suitable for her!

“Yeah, but I told your grandmother not to cause trouble over it. Miss Dongfang is already taken. I heard from a while back that she’s with a rich merchant from abroad, Fujiwara-something. Her relationship with her family’s been quite strained because of that recently. That’s why she’s been staying a lot in her shop.”

Most of what Mu Yinan knew about was from Wang Hui, so he did not know that much either.

“She’s quite a good girl. She’s ambitious and generous. Your grandmother says she’s very knowledgable and humble too. You should be friends with her if you have the chance.”

“Mmm, I’d like to get to know her. My father’s recently been trying to persuade her into being a lecturer at University A too.”

“Be a lecturer at University A? Well, I could talk to her about it.”

“Really? Well thank you then, Grandfather.”
