Chapter 2464 - 2464 The Situation is Becoming More Complex (4)
“Nevermind, it’s nothing.” In the end, Qin Chu said nothing.
You are acting oddly suspicious, and it is freaking me out,” Huo Mian said, but nonetheless, let out a sigh of relief as Qin Chu reassured her it was nothing.
“Mommy, come eat pork chop rice. It’s really good!”
“Mommy ate already, you guys enjoy. Come home early after dinner with Daddy, okay? I will drive home soon too.” “Okay, Mommy, see you soon!”
Upon hanging up the phone, Pudding smirked at Qin Chu. “I thought you trusted Mommy. Now you’re checking up on her with facetime? Good thing Mommy returned from the event early. If she really went karaoking with her classmates, she would have been caught red-handed!”
The two kids thought Qin Chu wanted to check up on Huo Mian, and that was why he facetimed her, but only he knew the truth.
After dinner, Qin Chu drove the kids back to South Hill Manor. The kids were happily playing with their grandparents in the living room. Qin Chu picked up his phone and gave Gao Ran a ring.
“Yes, Mr. Qin! What is your command?”
“Gao Ran, can you investigate someone for me?”
“Who?”
“I don’t actually know who she is.”
“Dude, are you toying with me? How am I supposed to investigate someone when you don’t even know who she is.” Gao Ran didn’t know what to think.
“How about this, open your local database and find Mian’s photo. Run an analysis to see if there is anyone that looks similar to her.”
“Someone that looks like Huo Mian?” Gao Ran was dumbfounded.
“Yes.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure,” Qin Chu replied in determination.
“Bro, I’m kind of confused. What’s going on? Are you looking for Huo Mian’s twin sis or something?” Gao Ran asked.
“No, I saw someone on the street today… Nevermind, I will tell you about it later. Just check first.”
“Um… Okay. I will try, but it might not work. After all, you don’t even know her name. It will be difficult to locate.”
Upon finishing the call with Gao Ran, Qin Chu sat in his reading room, quietly contemplating. His long fingers tapped on the surface of the desk as he fell deep in thought of this odd incident. He was so concentrated that he didn’t even notice the presence of Huo Mian. She entered the room on her tiptoes, and she suddenly jumped out in an effort to prank Qin Chu as she noticed that he was so wrapped up in thought.
“BOO!” Contrary to what she thought, Qin Chu barely had any reaction.
Awkwardly, she said, “Um… At least give me some reaction, now it’s super awkward,” Her hands flew up to her face.
Qin Chu gently wrapped his arms around her and sat her on his lap.
“How was the reunion?”
“Two words, extremely boring,” Huo Mian concluded.
“Heh, I knew it. I don’t even know why they bother with such occasions,” Qin Chu scoffed.
“To widen their network, of course. They are all very snobby and materialistic. They were rather polite to me and were wondering why you weren’t there. What’s more, when they heard Wei Dong went bankrupt, they were all extremely happy. They just laughed at his misfortune without any compassion.”
“Sounds about right. This is what society is like all along. So, going forward, it probably makes no difference if you stopped attending.”
“Uh-huh, that’s what I was thinking.” Huo Mian nodded and continued, “Oh, by the way, do you remember Liu Ze?” Huo Mian looked at Qin Chu, her arms wrapped around his shoulder.
“Nope.”
“I thought you wouldn’t remember! But, he is a transfer student in the second year. You know, the one whose father works at the school board,” Huo Mian reminded him.
“Still don’t remember.”
“Haha, fine.” Huo Mian shrugged.
“Why? Did he come today?”
“Yeah, he came today. He just got back to the mainland. He looks like he’s pretty well-off. He drove a very high-key car… and apparently he studies medicine as well. But, the fact that he appeared at a time like this makes me a little suspicious. It’s hard to say.” Huo Mian tilted her head as she pondered.
“Mian, let me ask you something. Have you ever seen another woman that looks just like you?” Qin Chu straightened her up in his embrace and asked her in a serious manner.
