Chapter 2689 - The Game of the Twins (9)
“I’d save you.”
“What?” Su Yu thought he had heard wrong so he asked again.
“I’d save you.”
“Haha, Doctor Huo, stop joking around. I’m serious. Can you stop jerking me around?” Su Yu was clearly doubtful.
“I’m not joking around.” Huo Mian looked more than serious.
“If you save me, what’s going to happen to Qin Chu?” Su Yu felt his heart race. Maybe… Huo Mian really did love him… maybe she was only constrained by moral and societal obligations? For a split second, a million thoughts ran through Su Yu’s head.
“I’d save you and then die with Mr. Qin,” Huo Mian added.
Of course. Su Yu suddenly realized what she had meant and his eyes flashed with disappointment.
“Oh, I see… haha, that’s what I thought. How could I be that lucky, hahaha.” Su Yu pretended to be cavalier.
Huo Mian wanted to say more to comfort Su Yu but the door suddenly opened.
Gao Ran walked in…
“I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?” Gao Ran looked serious.
Gao Ran looked incredibly handsome in uniform, no wonder even Zhu Lingling would fangirl over him.
“Um… l’ll go with the good first. My heart is weak. I’m afraid that the bad news will kill me,” Su Yu joked.
“Ahem… the good news is… that Liu Ze just signed the documents to drop the case against you. He wants to settle it privately.”
“Holy crap… so fast? Huo Mian, are you psychic?” Su Yu looked at Huo Mian happily.
Huo Mian was expecting it so she wasn’t surprised at all.
“What about the bad news?” Su Yu looked at Gao Ran.
“Ahem… listen carefully… the bad news is… that from now on, you can no longer get free food from our station.”
“That’s it?” Su Yu was taken aback.
“Yup.” Gao Ran nodded.
“I’m going to kill you! You almost scared me to death! What kind of bad news is that?!” Su Yu realized that he had been played. He took the napkin on the table, crumpled it into a ball and threw it at Gao Ran’s head.
“Hahaha… alright, let’s stop joking around. You should go home. Your family’s probably worried sick. Your mom called us many times already.”
“Got it. I’ll leave now.” Su Yu jumped up, suddenly super energetic.
“Let’s go! Come to our home for a meal.” Su Yu invited Huo Mian.
“We just ate breakfast.” Huo Mian laughed.
“Yeah! Because we can, alright? I’ll tell my mom to make you Australian lobsters and crabs.” He knew how much Huo Mian enjoyed seafood so he kept luring her.
Huo Mian looked at her watch. “Nah, I need to talk to Xiaowei.”
“Talk to her about what?”
“What else? Chatting I guess…I haven’t had the chance to talk to my best friends recently.”
“Alright then…bring Little Bean and Pudding over in a couple of days. Grandpa misses them.” Su Yu reminded.
“Okay.”
Just like that, Su Yu finally left the police station unharmed. His hair had grown long from being locked up for a couple of days.
Su Yu was greeted by An, who drove his Lamborghini to the entrance.
The two then dashed off into the wind…
“Did anything happen at the company while I was away?” Su Yu asked An, who was sitting in the passenger’s side.
“Yes, because of your arrest, our company experienced negative media and our stocks took a huge tumble… A couple of artists left too…but they were all new.”
“Not a big deal,” said Su Yu.
“Looks like our stocks fell by a couple billion,” An reported.
“No biggie.” A couple billion meant nothing to Su Yu.
“Yesterday night… some people were after President Huo. She fell off a building and got injured.”
“Which President Huo?” Su Yu asked nonchalantly.
“Huo Mian.”
Su Yu’slammed his foot on the brakes, his roadster coming to a screeching halt at the intersection.
