My Youth Began With Him

Chapter 2792 - Walking Further and Further Down the Road to Demise (2)

“I really don’t know how to communicate with you… I don’t know how you turned into this…” Shen Mingxi said angrily. Then, he stomped away and slammed the door shut.

Huo Yanyan hugged Tiantian and they both cried.

Like her mother, she also misplayed her cards.

Sadly though, Huo Yanyan didn’t feel like she was at fault so she continued to contact her lawyers.

By the fountain at South Hill Manor, Qin Chu and Su Yu stood there watching everyone play from afar.

Qin Chu passed Su Yu a cigarette.

Su Yu received it; he took out his lighter and lit Qin Chu’s cigarette, then his own.

“Shen Jiani would probably drag Huo Yanyan into this mess. Huo Yanyan probably will then hire a lawyer for her mother.”

“Mhm,” Qin Chu quietly responded.

“What are you planning to do?”

“I have everything arranged,” Qin Chu said peacefully as he looked over at Huo Mian and the twins.

“Try not to let Huo Mian know. I’m afraid she’d be too soft-hearted. You know, sometimes it’s good to clear all the roots out to get rid of the weeds. Otherwise, they might grow back to haunt you.”

“I won’t let her know,” Qin Chu agreed.

Ever since Huo Mian became a mother, her heart softened. She sometimes would let her enemies off the hook but this tended to create problems for the future. Qin Chu believed that it was best not to let Huo Mian know how he was cleaning up the situation. On this note, he and Su Yu had the same thoughts.

After all, men and women worked in different ways.

“What about Zhang Manlin?” Su Yu asked.

“We’ll do as Pudding said,” Qin Chu said.

“Haha, good. I’m going to wait for a good show. Have fun acting it out.” Seeing Su Yu smile happily in front of Qin Chu was a rare sight. He even playfully punched Qin Chu on the shoulder. Then, the two men looked at each other and smiled.

The next morning, Huo Mian went to work after taking a long leave.

It had been a long time since she last saw Director Wu.

After the morning meeting, Director Wu and Huo Mian had a meeting together to plan for the next season.

“Director Wu, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to the office now.”

“Mian, wait a sec.”

“Yes?”

“There’s a conference over in Germany, and we have two spots. I was hoping you and your assistant could fly over. You know right, I’m getting old and I’m close to retirement age. I really want to cultivate you as my successor.”

“Director, I…” Huo Mian gritted her teeth. She couldn’t say it.

“What’s the matter?” Director Wu asked when he saw how hesitant Huo Mian was.

“I’m really sorry director but I can’t do long-distance flights. I’m pregnant…” Huo Mian said with slight embarrassment.

“That’s good news! You’re sure good at keeping a secret. Looks like my deputy director will be on maternity leave again.” Director Wu smiled with fatherly affection.

“Director, I’m really really sorry,” Huo Mian apologized as she felt guilty.

“No no, this is good news. There’s no need to apologize. There’s going to a lot more conferences in the future. Your health is the most important thing right now.”

“Mhm.”

“Does Qin Chu know?”

“Not yet.”

“Why are you hiding such big news? Hurry up and tell your family so they can be happy about it.”

“Yeah. I’m planning to tell him soon.”

After Huo Mian left the director’s office and turned down the corridor, she bumped into Liu Ze.

Liu Ze’s wounds were almost fully healed. He was now able to move freely.

When Liu Ze saw Huo Mian, he was rather stiff.

Huo Mian didn’t even look at him and continued on her way. She had no intention of greeting him.

“Huo Mian, I have something I want to talk to you about,” Liu Ze said as he looked at Huo Mian’s shadow. There was a complicated look on his face.
