Chapter 1536 -I Will Forever Protect Mr. Qin (7)
‘Huo Mian, sit.” Rick waved his hands and gestured at Huo Mian. Then, he talked on the phone for a couple more minutes before hanging up and asking her, “Huo Mian… did you figure out a way to save Qin Chu?”
“I did, but now’s not the time to implement it,” Huo Mian replied nervously.
“I’m guessing your plan isn’t a great one, is it?” Rick speculated, and Huo Mian nodded.
“You’re right… it’s my last resort…”
“Huo Mian, I went to assassinate Huo Siqian.”
Upon hearing this, Huo Mian froze; however, Huo Siqian was still alive and about, which meant that Rick failed.
“I thought I would definitely be able to kill him, but he kidnapped Xixi…”
Upon hearing this, Huo Mian’s expression darkened. “He’s an expert at doing stuff like that.”
“He is… I always thought people we loved shouldn’t be involved in our own disputes.”
“You’re wrong… Huo Siqian doesn’t care about any of that. All he cares about is the result, he doesn’t have a bottom line.”
“I overestimated his morality, so my assassination failed. I feel really guilty that I couldn’t do this for Qin Chu.”
Rick really did feel guilty…
“Don’t say that, you did your best…”
“So I called my family, my older brother is the head of the family right now.”
Huo Mian heard Qin Chu mention Rick’s older brother before, Lino, was the boss of one of America’s most dangerous gangs and an immensely influential figure.
“Qin Chu saved my brother’s life, and we always treated him like family… so we can’t just sit there and do nothing.”
“What do you plan on doing…?” Huo Mian detected from Rick’s tone that they were going to do something reckless.
“After the first hearing, we plan on blowing up the escort vehicle and saving Qin Chu.”
“You’re going to extract him from jail?” Huo Mian asked, and Rick nodded. “Yes.”
After a few seconds of silence, Huo Mian said, “But if he runs away, he’ll always be remembered as a murderer.”
“That’s not a problem. It’s a big world, he doesn’t have to live in China… you and your family can all go to the States. Qin Chu’s uncle is a successful businessman as well, I don’t think it’s a big problem.”
“I don’t think he’d agree though…” Huo Mian expressed her worry.
“Why not?”
She replied slowly, “Qin Chu’s not going to give up on defeating Huo Siqian… for non-personal and personal reasons.”
Huo Siqian framed Qin Chu and the latter had to retaliate – that was the non-personal reason.
Song Yishi was Mayor Song’s daughter, and the Song family was very close with his own. He had to thoroughly investigate into her death – that was the personal reason.
Therefore, it seemed highly unlikely that Qin Chu would hide away to save himself…
Rick didn’t seem to have considered this beforehand and fell back into a whirlpool of struggling upon hearing what Huo Mian said.
“How’s this, let’s see if we can turn the situation around. If we really can’t do anything else about it, let’s break him out.”
“Sounds good.” Huo Main nodded.
“That’s it then, I just wanted to talk to you about possible ways to save Qin Chu.”
“How’s Xixi doing?”
“She’s in shock and currently under my protection.”
“Console her if you can, after all, she’s never seen the evil in life.”
“I know.”
“I’ll be going then…” Huo Mian said as she got up to leave. Right before she reached the door, Rick suddenly called her name, “Huo Mian.”
“Mhm?”
“You have to hang on, Qin Chu will be fine.”
“I know, I’ll keep protecting Mr. Qin so no one can hurt him again.”
“Actually, Qin Chu told me about your true identity. Do you want to…?”
“I don’t…” Huo Mian immediately refused; she didn’t want to hear about her identity from Rick. She added, “I want to hear it from Qin Chu once he comes back. He promised me he’ll tell me about it.”
“Okay then,” Rick said; he suddenly felt respect towards Huo Mian. Unlike most women, she didn’t cry and panic whenever something bad happened, nor did she run around asking for help.
She also wasn’t someone who threw away honor and integrity in front of things that benefitted her. She didn’t cast Qin Chu aside and run away for herself.
Rick suddenly remembered the wedding invitation –’together through thick and thin’. It seemed like Huo Mian was a woman of her words, no matter what happens.
In the dark detention room, a long shadow stood quietly before the metal doors, his eyes as deep as the ocean.
