Chapter 356
Si Mobai whispered dotingly, “As long as you are healthy, I will become anything you ask.”
Feng Tianlan gazed at him as he checked on her. His serious demeanor made him all the more attractive, even with his unkemptness.
“Your body is recovering well. Rest a bit more, and I’ll wash up,” Si Mobai said. Then, he tucked Feng Tianlan into bed, stood up, and left.
“Mobai.”
“I’ll be right back.”
Something was wrong. Why was Si Mobai in such a hurry to leave? Feng Tianlan sat up in bed just in time to see Si Mobai collapse by the door.
Her eyes widened in fear, and she cried out, “Mobai!” Her voice was shaking. “Si Mobai, wake up! What’s happening?”
Just a few minutes ago, she had been the one in bed, relieved to see him right by her side. Now, mere moments later, Si Mobai was the one on the floor.
Hearing the commotion, Luo Yunzhu limped in as fast as she could and exclaimed, “Tianlan! You’re awake! What happened to His Highness?”
After examining Si Mobai, Feng Tianlan heaved a massive sigh of relief. She helped up Si Mobai, and they returned to the chamber. “He seems to have fallen asleep.”
Luo Yunzhu followed behind, saying, “Well, you were in a coma for three days. His Highness barely left your bedside and took care of you tirelessly, day and night. He must be burned out.”
Feng Tianlan laid Si Mobai on her bed. As she took in his sunken eyes and the prickly fuzz under his chin, she realized that he looked beyond exhausted. She had not realized that she had been in for three days.
“Where are Chuling and Zhang Tiancheng?” Feng Tianlan examined Si Mobai again to make sure that he had not suffered any other injuries. He appeared to have passed out from fatigue, but she still had her doubts.
Who was Si Mobai? He was the mighty Wargod. He’d led an army and fought bloody battles for three days without any sleep. How could he possibly have fainted from fatigue?
“They are recuperating in bed, where they have to stay for at least ten more days,” Luo Yunzhu replied. She passed Tianlan a glass of water as she snuck a glimpse at Si Mobai. The icy Wargod was lying weakly on Feng Tianlan’s bed. It was a rather sad sight to behold. She sighed, “Is His Highness okay?”
“I don’t know.” Feng Tianlan took the glass of water from Luo Yunzhu with her eyes still glued to Si Mobai’s cracked lips. Little by little, she began to feed him some water.
Luo Yunzhu grabbed a small stool and sat down. “His Highness has refused to eat and drink these past few days. He didn’t sleep at night so that he could be by your side all the time. I never thought that someone as mighty as His Highness could have such a gentle side.”
What Luo Yunzhu truly wanted to talk about was how, that day, Si Mobai had been willing to throw himself in front of Feng Tianlan to save her life.
Anyone could pretend to care. She thought: but who would sincerely be willing to lay down their life without any hesitation for Feng Tianlan? Si Mobai was the only one she’d seen so far.
Feng Tianlan avoided Luo Yunzhu’s probing as she asked, “Where is this place? Are there any doctors? Can someone come and take a look at him?”
“This is a small town at the foot of the mountains near the Misty Forest. There’s a doctor outside. I’ll go get him.”
“Let me do it. You’re injured.” While Luo Yunzhu did not use a walking stick or a cast, Feng Tianlan could tell that Yunzhu was hurt from the way that she was walking.
“No, I’ll go. Besides, His Highness will want to see you the moment he opens his eyes. You should stay here and take care of him.”
Feng Tianlan wanted to refuse, but after Luo Yunzhu limped out of the room stubbornly, she gave in.
The door closed with a creak only to be pushed open again thirty minutes later. Surprised, Feng Tianlan asked, “Is the…”
She trailed off in mid-sentence. Because when she finally realized who the visitor was, she was somewhat stunned.
