Chapter 232 - Fulfill Her Wish
He said in a cold and heavy voice, “It’s only right that I sacrificed some of my time. If I didn’t attend this performance attentively, how would she have learned the consequences of targeting my fiancée?”
“Yes, yes, of course.” Fang Manxue clenched her clammy hands.
She was once again thankful that Weng Jingke had spoken up for her today.
However, it was also a pity. Weng Jingke had been an extremely useful tool.
Now that she had lost her, it would be difficult to find someone as easy to use.
Bai Qinghao did not miss the relief that flashed past Fang Manxue’s eyes.
He knew better than anyone that Weng Jingke was only a foolish scapegoat.
Fang Xinxin had given Weng Jingke an out but she refused to take it. She had magnanimously decided to shoulder the responsibility all on her own.
Since, Xinxin had said she would grant her wish, given that he was such a doting fiancée, he naturally gave into her.
As for Fang Lilan and Fang Manxue, this pair of mother and daughter, he would wait to see what other trouble they could stir up!
Fang Manxue took in the sight of Fang Xinxin sitting shamelessly on Bai Qinghao’s lap. Her eyes seemed to be lit with flames of jealousy. Even her ears were nearly emitting smoke.
Fang Lilan also could not handle the sight of this display of affection. She put on a blank expression to mask her unhappiness. “Xinxin, why are you sitting on CEO Bai’s lap? It won’t be good if other people see this.”
She waved her hand beckoningly at her.
“Madam Fang, are you blind?” Bai Qinghao’s gaze appeared as sharp as knives. He responded heavily. “Didn’t you see me pulling her onto my lap?”
“Y-yes…” Fang Lilan put on a stiff, apologetic smile.
Despite her anger, she did not dare to say anything more. “CEO Bai, the Fang home is much simpler compared to the Yu Ting Villa. Still, feel free to treat this place as your home. We will soon become a family anyway.”
She would definitely become Bai Qinghao’s mother-in-law.
However, the only woman he could marry was Fang Manxue!
“That’s right, that’s right.” Long Shuhai also chimed in. “If our hospitality is lacking, please let us know without any hesitation. We will definitely try our best to meet your requests.”
“Scram.”
The single, concise word was delivered in an imposing tone.
None of them dared to disobey him. Everyone in the living room, including the helpers, Fang Manxue, Fang Lilan and Long Shuhai, sped away in four different directions.
Some of them headed out of the villa’s entrance, while others returned to their bedrooms. In any case, their figures quickly disappeared from the hall.
A bodyguard standing behind Bai Qinghao hesitated.
He was responsible for his Boss’s safety.
As he took in the way his Boss was holding Fang Xinxin possessively, he felt that he needed to give them some space to interact. He said, “Boss, this subordinate will back away first.”
The moment he stepped out of the villa entrance, another bodyguard rushed in. “Boss, there’s an urgent matter!”
He then handed over an envelope.
Bai Qinghao reached out to receive it and Fang Xinxin took the initiative to angle her head away. She did not attempt to peek at the letter.
Much of the Bai family’s matters could not be revealed to the public.
His heart ached for her maturity and feelings of doting swelled up inside him.
He quickly tore the envelope open and scanned its contents. The bodyguard by the side had already prepared a glass cup around the size of a wine glass. After Bai Qinghao finished reading the letter, he tossed it into the cup. The letter immediately lit up with flames and turned into ashes within a matter of seconds.
Fang Xinxin recognised that the cup was coated with fine powder. Once the lid was opened, any matter that came into contact with it would combust.
There were a lot of confidential matters that were not suited to be saved and stored. Burning them was the best way of dealing with them.
Bai Qinghao turned to look at her. As a rare occurrence, his voice carried some guilt. “Fang Xinxin, I came to spend some time with you, but there are important matters that I have to handle.”
