Chapter 1139 - Talisman Poison
To the south of the Saint Mountain, a black streak of light suddenly appeared in the sky, alarming the dozens of Heaven Hidden Sect disciples in Saint Mountain. However, some of them were not that shocked; it was evident that news of Jiang Yi’s impending arrival had spread.
Buzz!
The Teleportation Formation suddenly lit up as Fifth Eldress brought almost a hundred people and had teleported over. There were around four to five Demigods with her. They were all very agitated, especially Fifth Eldress whose reaction was complicated and resigned.
The Mystic Divine Palace stopped south of the Saint Mountain as its door opened, and Jiang Yi flew out. Following that, a beam of white light shone from his hands as he motioned, and the Mystic Divine Palace quickly shrank into the size of his palm as he placed it inside his Ancient Divine Essence Ring.
“En?”
Some Heaven Hidden Sect disciples and elders eyes lit up as they looked at the Mystic Divine Palace, faces full of desire and yearning. Although they didn’t have the intention of snatching it, this was—after all—the number one cardinal treasure in the world; there were also two divine artifacts inside.
Swish!
Jiang Yi did not hesitate at all. He had helped the Heaven Hidden Sect retrieve the Glazed Pagoda while the Saint Empress was indebted to his mother; the Heaven Hidden Sect would not make things difficult for him. He guessed right. Not only did Fifth Eldress and company not give him trouble after he had flown towards them, they had all even genuflected and said, “Greetings to Young Master!”
“Young master?”
Jiang Yi was momentarily stunned as his gaze cooled. That year, the Heaven Hidden Sect had forced him to go and deal with the Dwarf Race on his own; he was extremely uncomfortable receiving this greeting from them. He waved his hand and said, “All are to rise, I dare not accept this! Bring me to see the Saint Empress.”
Fifth Eldress and company exchanged glances, not sure how to react. However, they did not say much and brought Jiang Yi into the Teleportation Formation. With a flash of white light, Jiang Yi was once again brought into that beautiful paradise—the home of the Heaven Hidden Sect.
“Young Master, please go ahead! The Saint Empress has been awaiting your arrival.”
Fifth Eldress led the way as Jiang Yi followed silently. He used his divine senses but could not detect Su Ruoxue. He walked a few steps, stopped, and asked, “Where is Ruoxue?”
“Ruoxue is with the Saint Empress.”
The Fifth Eldress explained. Jiang Yi then continued walking towards the pavilion where the Saint Empress was staying. As per the previous encounter, the Saint Empress was not in the pavilion; Fifth Eldress brought Jiang Yi to the backyard once again.
“Ruoxue!”
Upon entering the backyard, Jiang Yi’s gaze was transfixed by an icy-cold lady. Compared to Yin Ruobing and Yi Chan’s coldness, Ruoxue was even colder. Her expression and soul spirit were as cold as an ice river. She stood at the Saint Empress’s side, just like an ice statue.
Su Ruoxue heard Jiang Yi’s exclamation, raised her head, and looked at him. She looked slightly dazed as she quickly lowered her head once again, not looking at Jiang Yi anymore. The Saint Empress herself had not changed much from their previous encounter. She laid down in a small pavilion and smiled as she looked at Jiang Yi, not saying a word.
After Jiang Yi had walked over, Saint Empress dismissed Fifth Eldress and the servants. She still did not rise but continued to smile faintly at Jiang Yi, saying, “Jiang Yi, congratulations on becoming the Mystic Thearch’s successor. If your mother knew, she would definitely be very comforted and proud.”
When the Saint Empress mentioned Yi Piaopiao, Jiang Yi’s heart did not go through as much turbulence as before. He even didn’t feel like asking the Saint Empress about Yi Piaopiao. His gaze was fixated on Su Ruoxue as the ring on his finger lit up, and a beautiful pagoda appeared. He placed the Glazed Pagoda on the table and then looked at Saint Empress, saying, “I have brought what you have requested. When will you help Su Ruoxue regain her memories and remove her reliance on the Soul Cleansing Pool?”
“The Glazed Pagoda? It has been more than seven hundred thousand years!”
The Saint Empress ignored Jiang Yi as she looked at the Glazed Pagoda, sitting up finally. She sighed with emotion and said, “My sect’s sacred treasure has finally been returned. Even if I were to die, I can be accountable to my predecessors.”
While saying this, two streams of tears flowed down the Saint Empress’s cheeks. She hugged the Glazed Pagoda forlornly and looked at it for a long time before keeping it. She then turned her gaze to Jiang Yi, saying, “Jiang Yi, I had long removed Ruoxue’s dependence on the Soul Cleansing Pool the moment you had obtained the Mystic Divine Palace. She is now free, and you can take her away anytime! However, I am sorry to say that I have no way of recovering her memories…”
“What?”
Jiang Yi’s eyes turned cold as if an enraged little lion with his mane raised. His gaze fell on Su Ruoxue as he glared at the Saint Empress, gritting his teeth as he enunciated each word, saying, “Saint Empress, are you toying with me again? You have toyed with me for so long, and you still want to continue doing so? The Buddha Thearch had told me many things already; there is no point in playing with me anymore…”
“I’m sorry!”
The Saint Empress was full of regret as she said, “I am not playing with you this time. If you do not believe me, you can bring Ruoxue to see other Demigods, to see Ao Lu. There is some poisonous matter inside her soul spirit. I have tried many things, but it has been beyond me…”
“You are sure you have not lied to me?”
Jiang Yi’s aura grew, seemingly about to want to battle with the Saint Empress if she answered wrongly. He was truly angry!
Seeing the person he loved standing in front of him but he could do nothing but look—that was a feeling that was driving him mad. He had gone through so much, trying to annihilate the Dwarf Race, retrieving the Glazed Pagoda… now, the Saint Empress said that Su Ruoxue’s memories could not be recovered? How could Jiang Yi not be angry? If it wasn’t on account of the Saint Empress having saved him before—at this moment, he would probably have been so angry he was going to start killing people already.
“I am really not lying to you this time. I can swear to the deities.”
The Saint Empress sighed lightly and said, “Actually, I also did not know beforehand. It was only after you had obtained the Mystic Divine Palace. When I was preparing to help Ruoxue regain her memories and dispel her reliance on the Soul Cleansing Pool, I realized that there was this special energy inside her soul spirit. It is a poisonous matter that is even more lethal than the deadliest poison. You can go and verify it yourself. This thing is called Talisman Poison. You can go and ask Ao Lu or others which clan specializes in using this type of poison, and you would know that I am speaking the truth.
“Talisman Poison?”
Jiang Yi used his divine senses as he carefully searched Su Ruoxue’s soul spirit. However, he checked a couple of times without success. He then closed his eyes and entered the State of the Union of Heaven and Man and tried again. He then found out that there was a sliver of a type of energy buried in every inch of Su Ruoxue’s soul spirit; it was as if it had fused together with her soul spirit. It was very difficult to expel it; if not handled properly, Su Ruoxue’s soul spirit could be destroyed.
He opened his eyes as his expression became extremely savage as he gritted his teeth and asked, “Which clan uses this type of special poison?”
The Saint Empress walked over, gently touched Su Ruoxue’s head, sighed, and said, “This Talisman Poison is very infamous. Most clan heads would have heard of it before. This is the unique poison of the Heaven Nether Sect.”
“Heaven Nether Sect?”
This was the second time that Jiang Yi was hearing this name; the Buddha Thearch had mentioned it once before. His face revealed a tinge of suspicion, saying, “Saint Empress, are you toying with me again? After Su Ruoxue was teleported from the Stellarsky Continent, she had always been with the Wu Clan and then was taken away by you guys. She was detained by Ji Tingyu after that. How could she have pissed off the Heaven Nether Sect? Furthermore, I have never heard of the Heaven Nether Sect before. Why would a low-profile sect such as the Heaven Nether Sect go and poison Su Ruoxue for no reason?”
“Keke!”
The Saint Empress was slightly embarrassed. That Jiang Yi did not trust her was something that could not be helped.
She did not blame Jiang Yi either as she looked towards the southwest and said, “You do not know of the Heaven Nether Sect? You should have heard of the Ten Concealed Great Sects, right? The Heaven Hidden Sect is number two among the ten while the Heaven Nether Sect is ranked number one! Unfortunately, the current North Emperor’s wife—Wu Ni’s mother—is the Saint Lady of the Heaven Nether Sect. You can find out more from anyone on Sin Island, and you would know that I am speaking the truth.”
“Uh—”
The Saint Empress seemed as if she was speaking the truth, and based on her expression, it didn’t appear like she was lying to him. Jiang Yi’s rage subsided a little as he coldly asked, “If this Talisman Poison is not dispelled, would Ruoxue not be able to regain her memories forever? Also, will the Talisman Poison affect her soul spirit?”
“If this poison is not neutralized, nobody would dare to do anything reckless in the meantime. Of course, you could ask Ao Lu to try; perhaps he might have a solution.”
The Saint Empress said very seriously. “As for whether the Talisman Poison would affect Ruoxue’s soul spirit or not, I do not know either. As the Heaven Nether Sect is even more low-profile than us, they have not appeared much in the past two hundred thousand years. The only time they had appeared recently was to marry one of their Saint Ladies to the North Emperor…”
“Goddammit!”
Jiang Yi shouted out an expletive as he furiously hammered the table in front of him. A huge explosive sound could be heard as the table was turned into a fine powder.
