Chapter 1859 - I Want You to be Happy (10)
“Miss Jian, please allow me to correct you… I’ve never tortured Su Yu nor do I treat him like a loyal dog… Please mind your words… I, Huo Mian, view Su Yu as one of my best friends and no matter what troubles he encounters in the future, I am willing to even sacrifice my life to help him… I don’t care what is going on between you two but please don’t act like you have the moral high ground… Saying that I’ve been treating him like my backup is an insult to me and it does nothing but reveal your true character… so don’t worry, I won’t blame you for being so shallow…” Huo Mian glanced over at Jian Tong’s face, which was delicately forged by makeup.
“Sure… They all say that you’re a genius and you sure can talk your way out of things… I can’t argue like you do but I just want to tell you that you don’t need to worry or feel guilty anymore. Yu and I are great together! I will try my best to become Mrs. Su in the shortest amount of time.”
Then, Jian Tong slammed a bowl on the marble counter and left…
Huo Mian was left in a bad mood. She knew why Su Yu did such a thing but she thought that he was acting irrationally.
Huo Mian knew Su Yu wanted her to be happy. He didn’t want her to feel any pressure. All he wanted was for her to live happily ever after with Qin Chu and the twins.
However, Su Yu’s such actions made Huo Mian’s heartache even more…
Huo Mian suddenly remembered something Jiang Xiaowei told her before; she remembered how the latter once said that Su Yu loved her so much that he belittled himself.
He belittled himself so much that he would do anything for her… He would do anything to make her happy…
At the thought of this, Huo Mian felt her heartache…
She calmed herself down before she left the kitchen and poured a bowl of soup for everyone on the table.
Shortly after dinner, Huo Mian and her family stood up to leave.
“Stay a bit longer… It’s still early…” Mrs. Su didn’t want them to leave yet.
“Mian, stay and play a game of chess with me…” Grandpa Su looked at Huo Mian like she were his own granddaughter.
“Grandpa Su, how about another day? It’s late today, you should get some rest… Don’t forget to take your blood pressure medicine… Also, try not to get agitated and remember to get checked up periodically…”
“I know, I know… You’re such a nagger…” Grandpa Su smiled.
“Su Yu… We’re going to head back now,” Huo Mian said to Su Yu. This was the first time Huo Mian talked to Su Yu that night.
Su Yu nodded. “Okay. Drive home safe.”
He turned around to look at the twins.
“Pudding, Little Bean, come over and say goodbye.” Su Yu waved them over.
But Pudding turned away, obviously still mad at him.
Little Bean secretly glanced at Su Yu. She wanted to say goodbye to Su Yu but was afraid that Pudding would beat her up for it, so Little Bean also turned around.
“Huh? What’s with the twins tonight? Where are their manners…?” It was the first time Su Yu was ignored by the twins.
For the first time in three years, his heart filled with disappointment.
“I’m sorry… They’re still kids and there are things they don’t understand yet…” Qin Chu apologized to Su Yu since he felt somewhat responsible for their behavior.
“Oh, no worries… They’re just mad at me now. They’ll come to their senses soon… I’ll send a WeChat message to Pudding later.” Su Yu smiled.
Qin Chu nodded.
“Safe drive home, drive slowly,” Su Yu said politely.
Qin Chu nodded again and they left the Su Residence.
“Mom, Dad, Grandpa… We should get going too…”
When Huo Mian and her family left, Su Yu didn’t want to stay at home for a second longer, so he picked up his coat and was about to leave when Mrs. Su suddenly called out, leading him over to the pantry on the first floor. “Wait, I need to talk to you.”
Jian Tong sat on the sofa in the living room playing with her phone, mainly scrolling through Weibo.
She didn’t seem to mind how Su Yu’s family treated her…
Grandpa Su went upstairs to his study and Mr. Su got the driver to take him out for tea at his friend’s place because he also wasn’t in a good mood…
“Mom… what’s the matter?”
“What’s with you and Jian Tong?”
“What about it?” Su Yu pretended like he didn’t know what his mother was talking about.
“Are you guys for real or are you putting on a show for Mian’s sake?” Mrs. Su asked.
