Chapter 73 - Wan Wan, You Are Prettier Than Her
Su Wan ran downstairs. At that moment, Jiang Xuecheng was leaning against the sofa leisurely, reading a magazine.
When he looked up, he saw Su Wan hurriedly running toward him. She looked like she was in a haste, as if something had happened.
What had happened?
Two rays of light flashed through Jiang Xuecheng’s long and narrow eyes. He put down the magazine in his hand and frowned.
“Wan Wan, what happened to you?”
Su Wan pouted. Her eyes were filled with complication. She looked at Jiang Xuecheng silently but refused to talk.
On one hand, Jiang Xuecheng was baffled and on the other hand, he felt there must be a reason for this as Su Wan was not a woman who would find fault with someone for no reason.
When Jiang Xuecheng was about to ask further, Su Wan suddenly grabbed his hand and muttered, “Follow me.”
Jiang Xuecheng raised his long eyebrows. Although he didn’t know what Su Wan was up to, he allowed her to drag him up to the third floor.
Firstly, Su Wan took out the photo album from Jiang Xuecheng’s room. Then, she tugged him through the corridor and pointed to the huge ancient costume portrait.
“Who is she?”
Su Wan grasped her hands tightly. Her usual alert almond eyes were now filled with grievances and made one take pity on her.
Jiang Xuecheng stared at the portrait for two seconds and turned around to look at Su Wan. His eyes were shining.
“Can I take it that you’re jealous?”
When she heard this question, Su Wan widened her eyes. She had asked in a serious manner, when did this man learn how to change the topic?
Angrily, Su Wan stamped her feet. “I asked you to answer me, not to ask other questions.”
Suddenly, a pair of wide hands wrapped around her shoulders.
Su Wan trembled and looked at the man in front of her, not knowing why she had been hugged. At this moment, why was he smiling?
Being looked at by his eyes which were as still as the deep sea, Su Wan was at a loss.
Just then, Jiang Xuecheng came very close to her and pressed his lips on hers. He hugged her and he was strong, making her feel a little painful.
His face was still handsome but Su Wan found it difficult to accept.
Why was this happening?
He had not even explained to her clearly, what right did he have to kiss her?
Su Wan kept pinching his muscles, wanting to urge him to let go of her but he held her tightly and did not let go, robbing her of the only air left in her mouth.
She didn’t know when, but Jiang Xuecheng finally loosened his hands which were clasping her. Su Wan took a step backward, not forgetting to pinch Jiang Xuecheng.
He deserved it as he took advantage of her!
Jiang Xuecheng did not feel the pain. His pair of eyes stared at Su Wan, as if not wanting to miss a single expression of hers.
“Wan Wan, I’m very happy.”
Happy that you actually care about me.
While Jiang Xuecheng said this, he laughed.
Su Wan couldn’t help rolling her eyes. Could this man be ill? Why was he still happy after she pinched him?
Looking at the indignant Su Wan, Jiang Xuecheng thought her current expression was cute and wished he could pull her into his embrace and love her.
However, when he saw Su Wan worrying about his relationship with the girl in the portrait, Jiang Xuecheng stopped teasing her.
“Wan Wan, do you wish to know who she is?”
Su Wan darted Jiang Xuecheng a side look and shrugged, “Of course, you’d better explain clearly.”
Jiang Xuecheng’s smile was warm. He walked toward Su Wan and held her shoulders. At that moment, Su Wan was reluctant to be near Jiang Xuecheng but she was not strong enough to resist.
“Her name is Sheng An’ning. She’s the granddaughter of my grandfather’s former subordinate. Grandfather and his former subordinate had braved countless dangers together. Then, misfortune befell his former subordinate and his family. Only his granddaughter remained alive. Due to their close relationship, grandfather took her into the Jiang family and took care of her as his own granddaughter.”
Upon hearing his explanation, Su Wan did not feel better but rather more upset.
What did it mean by taking her into the Jiang family and taking care of her as his own granddaughter?
If that was the case, Sheng An’ning grew up together with Jiang Xuecheng…
Su Wan flipped through the photo album and stopped at the photograph where Jiang Xuecheng shoved a water tumbler to Sheng An’ning. She pointed to that photograph.
“Did you like her in the past?”
Jiang Xuecheng saw complicated looks flashing through Su Wan’s pretty face. It seemed like entanglement and suffering.
This silly little girl…
Jiang Xuecheng hugged Su Wan. His embrace was gentle but his voice was firm.
“Where have your thoughts brought you? I don’t have an intimate relationship with her. I merely treat her as my little sister.”
Su Wan did not quite believe him. Feeling distressed, she pointed at herself and then at the portrait on the wall.
“Don’t you think she and I look alike? Both of us have brows shaped like the willow leaf, eyes the shape of an almond and when we smile, our dimples show.”
Jiang Xuecheng looked at the portrait on the wall in surprise. Then, he stared at Su Wan carefully.
“Really? I think you are prettier than her.”
Su Wan looked at Jiang Xuecheng’s stunned look. He didn’t look like he was faking his expression. Suddenly, she smiled and chose to believe in him. Su Wan pushed his hand away and said, “You have a glib tongue. The girl is obviously very pretty.”
Apart from the similarity in both their facial features, Sheng An’ning was a great beauty and would catch the attention of many if she were to walk in the crowd. Rare was her sense of classical charm and her beauty was a rare kind of beauty.
Jiang Xuecheng stared at Su Wan. His voice was faint but serious.
“Wan Wan, there’s only one Su Wan in this world and you are standing in front of me. As for the others, I won’t pay attention to them no matter how pretty they are.”
Such direct lover’s prattle put Su Wan in an embarrassed position. Why was this man not ashamed in broad daylight?
If she had to say such words, she wouldn’t be able to get herself to say them.
Jiang Xuecheng saw Su Wan looking down and thought she still did not believe in what he said. He sighed softly and opened the photo album once again. He then pointed to a group photograph of three people.
“This is my brother, Jiang Haoxuan. He and Sheng An’ning are a couple. Sheng An’ning decided to study abroad in Dong Chen Country to break into the music circle, so Jiang Haoxuan accompanied her. It has been six years now and they are still not back yet.”
While he said, Jiang Xuecheng tilted Su Wan’s chin so Su Wan could look into his eyes. “Alright, Wan Wan, could you not doubt your husband anymore?”
Su Wan was flustered being stared at by Jiang Xuecheng’s sparkling eyes. She had actually believed Jiang Xuecheng earlier on because when she said she and Sheng An’ning looked alike, Jiang Xuecheng looked surprised.
It seemed he had just realized they had similarities.
Moreover, Jiang Xuecheng addressed Sheng An’ning and his brother using their full names. Their relationships proved to be quite distant.
