Chapter 535 - To Execute Commanders before the Battle
“What did you say?” the commander of the Tiger Troop said angrily.
Even the commander of the North Mansion Battalion didn’t think Jiang Chen, a lieutenant of the seventh rank of the secondary class, was qualified to argue with him, not to mention the commander of the Tiger Troop.
“Did I say something wrong? A battle group composed of a team from the middle troop and two teams from the lower troop got stuck with the demons. That proves your incapability.
“When the city wall collapsed, you advanced rashly in order to take the credit. That proves your ignorance!
“You escaped right before the battle and then came back to blame me, who had helped the troop to the victory. This proves your shamelessness.
“You’re incapable, ignorant, and shameless. But pretending like nothing has happened, you’re standing here in such a righteous manner. What a joke!”
Jiang Chen was usually calm, but he was frightening when he started to scold them. He was so eloquent, and his words were as sharp as a sword. However, all he had said was true. He hadn’t slandered anyone.
Under shocked gazes, the soldiers of the two battalions flew out of the formations. Both of their commanders were heavily injured.
“I’m a troop on my own.”
Jiang Chen didn’t draw his sword back. He raised his head and threw his shoulders back, then caught the commander of the North Mansion Battalion.
With a flash of the sword, the commander of the North Mansion Battalion screamed and knelt down. Both of his knees were bleeding.
“Jiang Chen! How dare you! Do you know who I am? Have you heard about my family?” the commander of the North Mansion Battalion swore.
“Remember, when you tell the god of death about me, tell him my name is Jiang Chen.”
Raising the Red Cloud Sword high, Jiang Chen didn’t bother to waste more time speaking to him. He struck the commander decisively.
The magical Red Cloud Sword could cut iron like mud. The head of the commander of the North Mansion Battalion fell like a ball.
The headless dead body was still squirting blood.
“Holy sh*t!”
The soldiers watching were surprised to see that Jiang Chen had really done it. He had killed a commander of Venerable level!
“Jiang Chen!” The commander of the Tiger Troop flew into a rage. He was going to teach Jiang Chen a lesson.
“You want me to cut off your sh*tty head, too?”
Jiang Chen raised the Red Cloud Sword that was covered in blood. He looked pretty calm, but the cruelty in his eyes could be compared to the most bloodthirsty animals.
The commander of the Tiger Troop was struck dumb. He stopped.
Jiang Chen sneered coldly, then he walked towards the commander of the Flying Mount Battalion.
The large man, who had been angry, was given a good scare. Upon seeing Jiang Chen move toward him, he hurried to crawl backward and said, “No. Please don’t kill me.”
“No? Because of your cowardice, the Red Flame Battalion have almost 100 soldiers either dead or injured. Now you’re telling me not to kill you?”
Jiang Chen walked up to him and struck the Red Cloud Sword down on the commander’s neck. The latter’s head flew into the sky.
Jiang Chen grasped the hair of the head that had been cut off, unbothered by the blood squirting onto his face.
Facing the Red Flame Battalion, he raised the head and the Red Cloud Sword and shouted, “For our deceased brothers!”
No one responded. There was only silence.
But no one felt embarrassed, because after a period of silence, they saw the eyes of the soldiers of the Red Flame Battalion were wet with tears and they were flushed.
“For our deceased brothers!” everyone from the Red Flame Battalion shouted as loudly as they could.
Qiu Yan, standing beside them, wiped the tears off her face silently.
There were two ways to interpret what Jiang Chen had said. He could have been referring to the casualties caused by the Tiger Battle Group’s escape right before the battle.
Or he could have been referring to the tragedy caused by the North Mansion Battalion and the Flying Mount Battalion before he had joined the Red Flame Battalion, in which more than half of their soldiers had been killed or injured.
It was fair to say that Qiu Yan’s brother had actually been killed by these two.
Then Jiang Chen threw the head away like it was trash.
The commander of the Tiger Troop was extremely embarrassed. After the two commanders’ deaths, the others of the North Mansion Battalion and the Flying Mount Battalion wouldn’t be held accountable.
However, as the commander of the Tiger Troop, he had led the battle group in their escape. He was in danger.
The thing he worried about most happened. A voice came from the Tiger Troop and soon created an uproar.
“We want a new corps commander!”
The soldiers had lost confidence in him after what he had done.
