Pei Ge walked over, sat on the stool by the bed, and looked at her best friend gently yet miserably.
She really did not like her current attitude toward her.
“Best friend…”
The other curled her lips at the corner as she shot her a glance.
Tang Xiaoyu looked at her with tears in her eyes. “Last night, I kept thinking that you have nothing to do with it and that I shouldn’t blame you for it, but… I realized that it’s impossible for me to do so. I can’t do it….”
“Stop saying that. Please stop saying that…” Pei Ge reached out and pulled her best friend in her arms. “I understand your pain and why you’re blaming me. I’m not angry at you because I know that you need time. That day will come when you finally let go…”
She patted her back gently as though she were consoling a child.
She understood why her best friend, who had lost everything, was blaming her. Even if the latter knew that this matter had nothing to do with her, she could not help but be mad at her still.
“Just remember that… no matter what happens, I’ll always be your best friend. I’ll always stand by your side.”
Tang Xiaoyu cried following her declaration and slowly drifted into a sleep.
Pei Ge covered her with a blanket and carefully left the ward.
The moment she left the ward, she saw her man standing at the corridor, waiting for her.
“Ziming…”
“Come on; let’s go home.”
This simple invitation swept away all the despondency in her heart.
