Museum of Deadly Beasts

Chapter 264 - Spirit Devouring Beast’s Evolution 1

Of course, none of them knew that Lin Jin and Curator were the same people.

Lin Jin turned to Evil Scholar.

He remembered Evil Scholar’s pet beast well.

While the creature looked like a white cat, it was actually a Rank 3 spirit devouring beast with a balance of the five elements as its attributes. This pet beast was rather unique. Before Rank 4, it was just average without any advantage over its peers even at Rank 3. But at Rank 4, things would be different. When its spirit devouring beast bloodline had been activated, other pet beasts of the same rank couldn’t even come close to comparison.

He wondered how Evil Scholar obtained this spirit devouring beast. However, it seemed like the man didn’t know about this creature’s uniqueness. Otherwise, if he had used a special method to raise and nurture it, the creature would have already evolved.

However, none of this mattered to Lin Jin.

With Lin Jin’s current skills and capabilities, he probably wouldn’t need any external items. Just the pulse-seeking technique should be enough to promote a pet beast who was already showing signs of evolution.

“Scholar, let me take a look at your pet beast.” Lin Jin reached over. Scholar was about to discourage him in fear of his cat scratching him. But just as he was about to speak up, Black Crow chuckled. “Scholar, relax. Don’t forget that Appraiser Lin is Curator’s disciple.”

Scholar didn’t understand what he meant at first, but after seeing Lin Jin easily carrying the white cat in his arms, Scholar understood.

He recalled Black Crow telling him how Curator could subdue all beasts. During his first visit to the Visitation Hall, Black Crow had commanded his black falcon to attack, but the creature ended up kneeling halfway through.

When he talked about this, Black Crow had a conflicted expression on his face.

Back then, Scholar merely assumed that Black Crow was exaggerating, but after meeting Curator and seeing how Lin Jin could easily hold his white cat, Scholar believed it.

“A prestigious teacher does produce an accomplished disciple after all!” Evil Scholar mumbled.

Everything else aside, just this one ability to be able to subdue another’s pet beast should be more than enough to rule the world.

The white cat was currently nestled in Lin Jin’s arms, nudging him with its head. Evil Scholar gaped at this, musing, ‘Stupid cat. You were never this obedient and cute with me so what’s with the sudden change of personality in Appraiser Lin’s arms?’

He had no idea that Lin Jin possessed a beast deterrence ability. Having stayed in the museum for several days, Lin Jin also absorbed quite a bit of the museum’s aura, and this aura was a great supplement for beasts and creatures alike. Hence, the white cat was so docile.

With the cat in his arms, Lin Jin thought for a bit before taking out a pill. At this, the white cat immediately stuck out its tongue to lick the pill, making Lin Jin chuckle. “I see you know the good stuff, little guy.”

Although Lin Jin required no pills to help the cat evolve, having the pill would boost his confidence.

This was a ‘spirit gathering pill’. Unlike the average spirit gathering pill, this one was made with the museum’s prescription so its effects were at least ten times those being sold on the market.

Lin Jin had prepared this for Xiao Huo and White Ape. After absorbing the jade dragon’s blood, Xiao Huo’s potential was so much stronger than before. However, as Lin Jin had reached his limit back then, Xiao Huo’s Dharma body now required nurturing. This was why he pelletized some spirit gathering pills in the museum. By giving out one to the white cat, it would simply help it evolve.

However, the pill’s medicinal effect was too strong that the cat had to ingest it by licking slowly.

This required time so Lin Jin walked over to Coffin Man as he caressed the cat.

Seeing Lin Jin approach him, Coffin Man smiled.

But the man’s smile didn’t look any better from his crying face.

His coffin was placed beside him. Ever since Lin Jin taught Madam Ghost Child how to sever Coffin Man’s symbiosis, Coffin Man didn’t have to carry his coffin all the time now.

For several decades, he didn’t imagine it was possible.

Just this one fact made Curator his benefactor. It wouldn’t even be an exaggeration to say the man had saved his life.

Although this person wasn’t Curator, Curator’s disciple also represented the man himself.

“Appraiser Lin!” Coffin Man began. Lin Jin waved. “It’s alright, let me take a look at your zombie cthulhu!”

Immediately after, Coffin Man was stunned. Lin Jin realized he had let something slip. It was his first time meeting Coffin Man so he shouldn’t know what the man’s pet beast was. But this was easy to salvage. They just had to assume Curator told him about it. Lin Jin wouldn’t even have to explain himself.

Sure enough, after some thought on his part, Coffin Man found it reasonable.

However, Coffin Man became anxious right after because he saw Lin Jin trying to open up the coffin with one hand.

Coffin Man immediately stopped him. “Appraiser Lin!”

Lin Jin turned to him. “Is something the matter?”

“Uhm…” After a thought, Coffin Man explained, “My pet beast has an eccentric personality and always hurts people. Even as his blood pact owner, I’m constantly injured by him as well. I just fear you might get hurt if you didn’t know.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Jin nodded with a smile. “Thank you. Curator has told me about the zombie cthulhu’s uniqueness. Don’t worry, I’ll be mindful.”

If that were the case, Coffin Man didn’t know what else to say. He could only worry that an accident might happen. After all, to him, although Lin Jin was Curator’s disciple, the man was still too young.

Madam Ghost Child cast him a reassuring glance.

“Old Coffin, this Appraiser Lin is confident and even knows your pet beast’s name. He must have been personally briefed by Curator so you just have to relax and watch.”

Coffin Man nodded at Madam Ghost Child’s words. Still, he couldn’t relax completely as his zombie cthulhu was different from Evil Scholar’s white cat.

Meanwhile, Lin Jin already had one hand on the coffin’s board. With a forceful tug, he opened it up partially.

“What strength!”

Everyone’s eyes lit up. Coffin Man’s coffin was obviously abnormally heavy. Just the top board of this coffin should weigh about a hundred and fifty kilograms. To think Lin Jin, with his frail-looking body managed to open it up with one hand.

The man’s strength was surely incredible.

Although Lin Jin had never trained in martial arts, his physical body managed to build up through vein strengthening, so even his strength in one arm exceeded that of a normal person’s by several folds.

Once the coffin opened, everyone looked over.

Coffin Man’s pet beast was undoubtedly a creature with a volatile temple. He was savage and bloodthirsty, and everyone here had already witnessed it.

But after the coffin was opened, things remained peaceful.

Due to angle issues, the others couldn’t see what was happening inside the coffin. They could only see Lin Jin tilting his head, saying, “Don’t be shy. Come, let me take a look.”
