Tang Hai sneaked a glance at Qin Yawen before his eyes riveted on Tang Mo’er’s face. “Mo’er…”
Gu Mohan arched an eyebrow and he radiated an overpowering aura, his lips curving into a sardonic smile. “Oh? Is Mayor Tang planning to plead for Qin Yawen, the murderer?”
Tang Mo’er lifted her eyes and looked in Qin Yawen’s direction, her red lips slightly parted and spoke with a soft voice, “Everyone needs to pay a price for their own mistakes. I’m not a saint and by sending her to the police station without torturing her would the greatest benevolence on my end. If you’re thinking of pleading for her, don’t even try.”
“Mo’er.” Tang Hai shook his head in disapproval. “I’m not planning to plead for Qin Yawen.”
What?
Qin Yawen gasped, how could Tang Hai not plan to plead for her.
She had pinned all her hopes on Tang Hai. He was the man who couldn’t resist himself, but would fall for her whenever she seduced him. She just couldn’t imagine how this man would choose to forsake her at this life-threatening moment.
After witnessing the scene, Lu Qi’er felt a sharp pang of jealousy. She took on the identity as Lu Jinwen’s daughter for the past 21 years and yet she hadn’t received such an act of affection from him before! He had never covered her body with his coat to protect her from the cold.
Even after Tang Mo’er disregarded him by throwing his overcoat on the ground, he didn’t feel even a bit of anger.
Why did he treat Tang Mo’er so differently?
She felt indignant, truly indignant!
“Daddy!” Lu Qi’er didn’t give up and tried to charge towards Lu Jinwen.
But the bodyguard noticed her movements and cast her away, she fell on the ground with a loud thud. She looked up wretchedly and tried to ask for Lu Jinwen’s help, her eyes all watery. “Daddy.”
Lu Jinwen didn’t acknowledge her and couldn’t even be bothered to give her a glance. On the contrary, Tang Hai’s heart was wrenching in pain as he looked at Lu Qi’er.
“Mo’er, Daddy is in the wrong. But could you please let Qi’er off for my sake? Please don’t make life difficult for Qi’er, I admit that everything is my fault. If only I didn’t swap the two of you back then because of my greed for power, the two of you wouldn’t have to go through all of this. Mo’er, Qi’er is my biological daughter after all, I can’t just stand by the side and watch her like this.”
Tang Hai’s eyes were all red, he was filled with anguish, guilt and deep regret.
He was ready to give up on Qin Yawen but he needed to make sure to plead for Lu Qi’er and ensure she wouldn’t be hurt.
Tang Mo’er’s gaze landed on Tang Hai’s before she looked down and noticed the wound on his arm. He had sustained the injury while acting as her human shield and trying to protect her.
Though he wasn’t the best father all these years, it was an irrefutable fact that he had played a part in raising her. She was known as the Mayor’s daughter all these years.
She was emotionally attached to Tang Hai, she truly treated him as her father.
Gu Mohan ran his fingers through her silky hair, he knew her exact thoughts. “Mayor Tang, I don’t have any evidence on Qi’er’s illicit activities and so I won’t make life difficult for her according to your wishes.”
Tang Hai heaved a sigh of relief. “Thank you, President Gu.”
“I’m not done speaking, Mayor Tang. Since I’ve let Lu Qi’er off, it’d be considered as returning you the favor for raising Mo’er up. The next time we meet, you won’t have anything to do with Mo’er, you’ll be considered a stranger to Mo’er.”
Tang Hai was stunned. “Mo’er…”
Gu Mohan held Tang Mo’er’s waist and gently reminded her, “Mo’er, let’s get in the car.”
Tang Mo’er got in the car and the prestigious car sped away.
When the Rolls-Royce Phantom disappeared, Lu Jinwen pursed his lips and got into his car too.
“Daddy, Daddy, please don’t leave. Please bring me along too!” Lu Qi’er screamed hysterically.
She had been abandoned just like that, was she going to be chased out of the Lu family?
Was she going to end up with nothing?
She got up and tried to run over but the bodyguard stopped her again, flinging her against the ground.
Lu Qi’er noticed a gleaming leather shoe, she lifted her eyes and saw Lu Yan’s striking face appear before her.
