Chapter 640: Newborn Calves

Shadow Spiders were very valuable animals.

Their venom was an important ingredient for making poison, while Spider Carapace could be used to make leather armor and Chain Main Armor. Many blueprints required the use of these their materials. Shadow Spider legs were also useful in cooking.

However, the most precious of all was Shadow Spider Silk. This material was incomparable to the usual rare materials.

The Blood Island Shadow Spiders made up a considerable proportion of the Shadow Spiders. Their levels were quite low – about level 25 or so – which meant that they could be easily farmed with some antidotes.

Unfortunately, the Shadow Canyon on Blood Island was controlled by the Draenei and they had set aside a considerable force to kill anyone who hunted their Shadow Spiders.

Despite this, there were many players who still tried their luck at the prospect of making some money.

As they were able to revive, the loss of EXP was a small cost to those players that were only at level 25.

The real danger was in the Teleportation Channel.

Those caught would be marked by a guard, which would prevent them from using the Teleportation channel between Blood Island and Blue Island. This meant that they had to say goodbye to an entire map.

Even so, there were plenty of ways to make money, many of which didn’t have to do with the Draenei.

However, the poachers in this quest were not players – they were human NPC mercenaries. They were humanoid monsters that were on a quest to kill whatever monster they were assigned to.

They could be a wide range of professions, but most of them were Warlocks.

Warlocks were good at controlling their magic and they also had Internal Pets. They were quite strong, and level 20+ players would struggle against them. The strategy that Lu Li remembered required level 30 players, but Lu Li was already level 40.

“Follow closely behind me, but I will be the one doing the fighting,” Lu Li said as he touched the little Draenei’s horns, trying to not make it sound like a command.

At this age, children were said to be quite rebellious. You couldn’t be too tough on them because they would just resent you, which was even worse.

However, Lu Li’s sister wasn’t like that. They had grown up in a bad environment, so she didn’t get a chance to develop those attributes.

“No! I am a warrior; I want to fight!” Jorli immediately objected. She had heard many heroic stories and was like a bird that really wanted to escape its cage.

Lu Li really regretted talking to this sentry. Perhaps he could teach this girl what the world was like.

“If you don’t take me, I won’t let you help me.”

The Draenei girl seemed to be able to see Lu Li’s intentions and forced him to abandon the idea of leaving her behind.

Lu Li didn’t even really want to help her, especially with that attitude, but when he opened his mouth he said, “Why would I do that? I’m happy to fight with you. I’m quite curious about the power of the Draenei.”

“You’ll see,” she said as she slung her hammer over her shoulder and went first into the valley.

Lu Li was startled as he hurried past her.

The valley was filled with trees with purple leaves. The shrubbery in this area was mostly the same color, which might have been because of the soil. The Shadow Spiders preferred a habitat where the vegetation was of this color.

There were many spiders climbing among the bushes.

They were all neutral monsters and wouldn’t attack unless provoked, so they left them alone.

In a sense, these Shadow Spiders were pets kept by the Blood island Draenei, who specialized in trading rare materials such as Spider Silk.

“I smell a strange smell,” Jorli announced after she knelt down and sniffed the area.

Lu Li glanced around and patted the little loli Draenei’s head. He pointed ahead and said, “You don’t have to sniff – just look ahead. Those are the poachers we are looking for.”

The targets could clearly be seen with their eyes, yet this girl wanted to use her nose to smell them. This girl was delusional. She wasn’t a Draenei; she was a dog.

“Keke…I…” The poor Draenei girl’s originally blue skin started to become a little flush.

Lu Li had a lot of experience with girls that age and knew that if he kept talking about it, it would only embarrass her, so he decided to drop the subject. He was afraid that the poacher would attack her, so he didn’t go into Stealth and directly approached them.

When one of the poachers saw Lu Li, he raised his hand and continued applying his damage reduction effects. It wasn’t clear as to whether he was confident to take on Lu Li in a 2 v 1 or if Jorli’s level was just too low, but the Infernal Pet unexpectedly rushed past Jorli towards Lu Li.

Lu Li immediately scattered the Blind Powder onto the poacher’s eyes. The blind effect was applied and Lu Li rushed at the Infernal.

The Infernal and Shadow Spider Poachers were both level 25. Lu Li and a level 30 NPC were able to get rid of the Infernal within three hits before charging into the Shadow Spider Poacher.

Unhappy at how quickly this was all happening, Jorli ran towards the Shadow Spider Poacher with her hammer, even though he was still blinded.

If the hammer hit the Shadow Spider Poacher, the blind duration would end. Lu Li didn’t even know what would happen after that, but he knew that this girl’s head was empty.

This baby wasn’t afraid of provoking a lion. She easily summoned the courage and struck the Shadow Spider Poacher’s knees.

That’s right – his knees…

After hearing a cracking sound, Lu Li quickly realized that her attack wasn’t such a bad idea.

The Shadow Spider Poacher let out a shrill scream, then raised his Magic Staff and casted Shadow Bolt right at the Draenei girl’s head.

Jorli seemed frightened by her opponent’s scream; she didn’t expect for that to happen.

“He was just hit by a child. Why is he crying like that…” she wondered to herself.

Fortunately, Lu Li arrived in time and casted Gouge to stun the Shadow Spider Poacher. He then smoothly casted a few more skills in succession to finish him off before giving him a chance to retaliate.

“We are partners, right?” Lu Li asked as he crouched down and looked at the small Draenei.

He was shocked, but was still okay. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to save her. He didn’t even know if she would have died to that attack.

“That sounds right.”

The little loli was still excited about the first time using her hammer. This was her first step to becoming strong.

She even felt like she was now able to kill Shadow Spider Poachers because of her success.

She had smashed the Shadow Spider Poacher’s knee to weaken him before Lu Li finished him off. Even if Lu Li wasn’t there, she thought she could have done the same thing.
