Mr Fu, I Really Love You

Chapter 1071 - Was Indeed Rather Touching

When Lu Jinnan heard that Bai Xiaonian had come back, he nearly jumped up and went out to see the person he had been missing. But he forced himself to stay still, for he feared he might mess things up due to his anxiousness.

Compared to Gu Qingcheng and Fu Huai’an, Lu Jinnan was a little impatient, and this was especially true when it came to Bai Xiaonian!

Now, having learned his lesson, Lu Jinnan realized that the instant he got anxious, he had a tendency to mess things up. So, even if he was overwhelmed with emotions today, he had to calm himself down.

Since Bai Xiaonian was back, he had the time, so he didn’t have to rush. It’d be better than if he got anxious and messed things up and made life more difficult for himself in the future.

There were so many people around today. For Lin Nuan and Yuan Yuan’s sake, Bai Xiaonian wouldn’t leave early just to avoid him, so Lu Jinnan was in no rush.

“Yo, you’re so calm?” Tang Zheng couldn’t resist teasing Lu Jinnan. He complained to Gu Qingcheng and Bai Jinyu, “During the time we were cooperating with the Jiahe Corporation over the coastal city project in Wei City, I was utterly exhausted from work and couldn’t handle the affairs at the company by myself. With Sis-in-law pregnant, Old Fu was busy as well, so I could only call Lu Jinnan to come back from the US. In the end, Lu Jinnan refused to come back despite my pleas and continued staying there to pester Bai Xiaonian. He said something along the lines of ‘if he came back, his wife would be gone!’”

Lu Jinnan glared at Tang Zheng but said nothing…

Tang Zheng wasn’t making things up. Back then, Lu Jinnan was in a rotten mood and howled at Tang Zheng before hanging up the phone. He hadn’t expected this to be a stain on his life. To cheer everyone up, Tang Zheng would mention this whenever he had nothing better to do these days.

Lu Jinnan didn’t quite mind Tang Zheng’s words. His mind was filled with Bai Xiaonian, filled with what he should do in order to make Bai Xiaonian change her mind and come back to him in a peaceful manner.

It was lively on the day of Yuan Yuan’s one month birthday, so Lu Jinnan didn’t get the chance to speak with Bai Xiaonian subsequently!

When they were eating, Bai Xiaonian sat between Lin Nuan and Song Yao, covering her lips and whispering something to Lin Nuan and Song Yao. Lu Jinnan couldn’t take his eyes off Bai Xiaonian, who appeared to be in such great spirits.

Liang Mulan was meticulous this time—she had arranged for them to start eating at 4 pm so that they could finish eating early in order to let Lin Nuan rest properly.

Because she was deploying the Lins’ chefs, she did so with ease. As those present were close friends and family, the dishes at the two tables differed, being tailored to everyone’s tastes. Therefore, everyone could find something they liked to eat on the table.

Lin Nuan truly didn’t have to spend any effort at all for Yuan Yuan’s one-month-old celebration. Liang Mulan was the one who arranged everything, with Aunt Blessing assisting her by the side.

By the time they were done with dinner, it wasn’t even 6 pm. Everyone felt bad staying at the Fu residence. Tang Zheng offered to send You Nainai back, and You Nainai took up the offer. Seeing this, Lu Jinnan boldened up and walked to Bai Xiaonian, saying, “Let’s go, I’ll send you back!”

Remembering that her father was still eagerly waiting for her to return and have dinner with him at home, Bai Xiaonian didn’t decline. She nodded and said, “Thanks for the trouble!”

After sending their friends away, Liang Mulan didn’t stay much longer either, for she wanted to let Lin Nuan rest early. When she saw that the servants had tidied up the house, she suggested going back to Old Madam Lin and Old Master Lin, wanting Lin Nuan and Yuan Yuan to rest early.

Uncle Blessing and Aunt Blessing were, after all, advanced in age. After those people left, they were tired and had to retreat to their room to rest.

When Lin Nuan went upstairs to feed Yuan Yuan milk, she saw that Fu Huai’an had come back from talking with Gu Qingcheng. She placed Yuan Yuan, who had fallen asleep after being fed her milk, into the cradle, then lowered her voice to indicate for Fu Huai’an to try and not make any noise. “This child is tired!”

Seeing Lin Nuan fixing her clothes, Fu Huai’an walked over and stood beside her. He bent over to plant a kiss on Yuan Yuan’s little face, and then sat down next to Lin Nuan. “Lu Jinnan sent me a message to get me to thank you!”

After she was done fixing her clothes, she was afraid it might be too cold in the air-conditioned room, so she covered Yuan Yuan with a little blanket. “He could tell?”

“You’re such a meticulous person. You clearly knew that Bai Xiaonian came in a cab, yet you didn’t arrange for her to be sent back when she left. Song Yao seemed to offer to send her… but you visibly pulled her back. It’s not like Lu Jinnan is a fool!” Fu Huai’an smiled at Lin Nuan.

Lin Nuan was a little sheepish of what she had done. She feared that if Lu Jinnan were to do something bad, Bai Xiaonian might be mad at her later.

But since she had already done it, it was too late for regrets…

Hopefully, Lu Jinnan would have a chance to have a good chat with Bai Xiaonian this time, and they would have a blissful outcome.

“Uncle Bai asked Xiaonian to bring Yuan Yuan a pair of little gold bracelets, while Xiaonian gifted Yuan Yuan a large and solid gold pendant. How practical!” Lin Nuan then took out the heavy gold pendant from the bedside cabinet.

When Bai Xiaonian gave this to Yuan Yuan, she said that she was an ordinary person. Just like other people, she liked such gold and glittery things. Because she felt that a hollow pendant lacked sincerity, she specifically got a solid one made. It was as big as a gold ingot…

When Fu Huai’an saw this odd gift, he was tickled. The Fus didn’t lack money, so when others gave them gifts, sincerity and creativity were what they based their gifts on. Bai Xiaonian was being too honest and practical. There was a good chance that Yuan Yuan wouldn’t even be able to lift this!

Cen Mo regarded Yuan Yuan as his precious too. Perhaps because he didn’t get a daughter despite wanting one, when he saw his sister give birth to a daughter, he wanted to spoil his little niece like a princess. Cen Mo and Song Yao gave her a crown, a crown encrusted with diamonds and jewels!

Cen Mo and Song Yao had given the gift to Lin Nuan secretly, and Lin Nuan hadn’t had the chance to show Fu Huai’an.

Never mind the exorbitant price, just the sincerity they showed to Yuan Yuan was indeed rather touching.

After telling him about the gifts Bai Xiaonian and Song Yao gave, Lin Nuan asked Fu Huai’an about Gu Qingcheng, “What plans does Gu Qingcheng have for Xiao Liuli? Did he tell you?”

Fu Huai’an shook his head. “Qingcheng has always had his own ways. Perhaps he really hopes to see Xiao Liuli lead an ordinary life.”

Just then, Little Lu gently knocked on the door. He cracked the door open and stuck his head into the room, then said in a soft voice, “Sir, Madam, Young Master Tianci has arrived, but he’s standing outside and refuses to come in. He said that Old Master Fu came here with him. He seems to be testing if he can come in with Old Master Fu…”

Fu Qingquan’s arrival was indeed surprising.

Since the elder had come all the way there, they couldn’t very well turn him away. Fu Huai’an hesitated for a moment and then stood up. “You’ve worked hard today, go back early and rest! I’ll go and take a look!”

Lin Nuan thought about it, then said she’d go down after changing her clothes.

Fu Qingquan had come with a genuine intention to see Yuan Yuan. Yuan Yuan was, after all, his first great-granddaughter, so of course he would care about her.
